I have a 2011 RTL with 122k miles, and I recently developed a low speed rotational noise / squeak that I believe could be coming from the rear propeller shaft. (the long shaft that sends power to the rear differential) Looking at replacement options I have found OEM parts, a Dorman New shaft, and a Cardone remanufactured shaft. Looking at the listed specs on the shafts, the Dorman is stated to be 100 3/8 inches long and the Cardone remanufactured is stated to be 99 3/8 inches long. Both parts claim to be an "exact fit" for the vehicle. Has anyone crawled under yet or had the shaft out and measured the actual length end of flange to end of flange? I am puzzled by the inch difference in specified length. Can anyone confirm if where the center carrier bearing is, there is a slip yoke that might account for the difference in how the companies measured the lengths? If there is a slip yoke, perhaps the difference is taken up by the allowable "compression / extension" movement.
