2017 with 140k miles not shifting into overdrive gears!!

So I've had the tranny judder issue in the past which was "fixed" with 3x DF... and recently, in the last maybe 20k or so miles, have had some hard shifting, so did another 3x DF which seemed to "fix" the issue.

Well, today, after about 220 miles of freeway driving, I pulled over to fuel up and get some snacks. Getting back onto the freeway I quickly realized that the truck would not shift into overdrive as it just sat at ~3000rpm at ~60mph and did not shift. No error messages on the display. So took the next exit, stopped, and restarted truck. Problem went away.

Dog decided she needed a potty break just 10 minutes after getting back on the road, so exited and shut down the truck for about 5 minutes. When I went to merge back onto the freeway, same issue with not shifting into OD once up to speed and thus I took the next exit and restarted the truck. Went another 30 miles or so and reached my second to last destination of the evening with no issue.

Will be plugging in the scanguage for the last 50 miles of the trip... but any ideas what might be going on? Could this be one of the pressure switches I've been reading about on here?

You didn't accidentally hit the D4 button on the side of the shifter? I've done that before.

I'm with @zroger73 and think it's issues with one or more pressure switches. They probably gonadotropin more often than the transmissions themselves.

Good news is that you likely won't come near redline at legal speeds in 4th, so you can drive all the way to work and back in 4th. You will just use more gas. But you'll also feel like you're in a race car - LOL!

Hah - will have that Vtec howl going on at 45mph :)
I tested it today. Put the truck in D4 and it runs 4000rpm at 75mph. So the truck will probably do near 125 at redline in D4. ;)

Sorry for your truck loss! Kind of a d*ck move by the dealership to deny the warranty on what amounts to a technicality. At least you'll have something to throw in their face next time they offer you an extended warranty.

I would bypass the dealer and reach out to Honda Corporate to see if they will offer any goodwill help. If you're lucky, you might reach someone who is impressed with your record-keeping.

Are you going to try a 3x DnF to see if that will get you by until a new vehicle?

If you end up with a new Ridgeline, you might consider adding a license plate camera to the front of the truck. I added one to the back of my wife's 2008 Accord and it works OK, it was a cheapie at less than $50, including the display screen.

What we need is the 360° camera from the Pilot Trailsport to be added to the '24 Ridgeline.
Two thoughts:

1) it would be ideal to tie the VIN number to transmissions that have failed. Then it might be possible for the ROC to track failures of replacement transmissions, even though they are a small subset of the greater population.

2) if my trans makes it out of the warranty period, I may be inclined to treat it to better fluids, such as Amsoil and LubeGard. Not that I condone them, but perhaps they would lubricate those o-rings a little better and keep them in place.
