I agree, the computer version on most vehicles, more about making the driver feel good than accuracy. I can coast down a hill and it may show 99 miles per gallon - Haha 馃槀
You actual fuel economy is considerably higher than 99 MPG while coasting, but that is as high as the trip computer is programmed to indicate. :)

My 2017, 2019, and 2021 Ridgelines have had the least accurate (optimistic by 5-10%) trip computers of any of the dozens of automobiles I've owned with trip computers. I've had other Hondas and other brand that were accurate within 1% or better.

One of the reasons I purchased my second Ridgeline was expecting even better gas mileage, but so far I am very disappointed with it.
Fortunately, used car values are still high so you should be able to get most of your money back. What would you replace the second Ridgeline with, if anything?
