Nearly as much HP from a 1.6L I3 that Honda gets from a 2.0L I4? Interesting. That's more HP per litre than a Ford GT or Bugatti Chiron. Will some of that HP be from an electric motor?

I DO like the sound of an I3 engine, though! I'd like to see Honda's turbocharged 1.0L I3 as the base engine in the new HR-V that will be revealed in a few days.

I would love to have one. But the markup will be so crazy high that it seems that the ridgeline will be here for a longer time.
This vehicle should fill the void left by the EVO and STI.

I'd like to see Honda's 2.4L V6 hybrid in the G3, but I don't think that will happen!

I like it. Seems like a great replacement for my 2002 Accord coupe that I traded for the Ridgeline. If this was a booming economy and I had a lot of play money, I'd be interested. Biggest caveat is my wife won't drive a stick.

It is a booming economy. Companies are hiring workers as fast as they can, wages are growing, unemployment is close to an all-time low, consumers are spending. All that pent-up demand is why we’re all spending more now, contributing in large part to inflation as goods become scarce.

I wouldn’t want to predict when car prices will level out, but if you want a good ole ICE car, you can’t wait too long. You’ll at least get a lot for your trade-in.

Having never been in nor driven an Integra, I have zero opinion about whether it’s a 2-door, 4-door, etc.

(I did have an Acura CL, which was sporty as hell and which I wish I still had. That would be a good one to bring back to go up against BMW 3/4 series.)

It looks like a decent sporty grocery getter, with a manual, which is rare these days. If you want a hot hatch to hoon around in, you’ll have to look elsewhere.

I recall they said something like 65% of the pre-orders requested the manual.

I suppose if the take rate on manuals was 5% across all vehicles five years ago, the dearth of available manuals nowadays has significantly increased the demand. That demand is then bolstered by folks not wanting CVT, and it seems ridiculously hard to get a decent automatic transmission nowadays.

Plus, you can't go wrong with a Honda / Acura manual transmission. It's just too bad we can't get a sweet Honda manual in the Ridgeline.... imagine no transmission complaints on the ROC!

100% of Civic Si's and Type R's are manual, but there are relatively few of them and there will be even fewer Integras. Sales of all three of these models combined will be less than sales of the Ridgeline. Even if the take rate for a manual in an Integra was 100% instead of 65%, that's still relatively few manuals sold. These are very niche-market vehicles. Most Miata's are manuals, too, but that model's volume is incredibly low compared to Mazda's total sales.

TL;DR: The Integra's unexpectedly high take rate for a manual transmission isn't very significant.

As much as I love to occasionally drive a vehicle with a manual transmission, I do not want another one as a daily driver. At least for me, the fun eventually wears off and it becomes an inconvenience.

I guess for me it comes down to knowing you have a lightweight reliable inexpensive transmission that does exactly what you want it to do. Yes, it is more work, particularly in traffic, but the benefits still outweigh the negatives IMHO.

If all automatic transmissions performed on par with the ZF8, or I commuted in stop-n-go traffic, I might have a different attitude. That being said, i love the way my six-speed performs (outside of essentially no manual control), just hope it holds out until I'm ready to upgrade.

With the Integra, it’s reported that 65% of preorders are choosing the 6 speed over the CVT even though the 6 speed is only available on the top trim. I’m surprised at the take rate but then again it’s probably biased in that preorders are mostly enthusiasts. They have to be enthusiasts - who else would pay $40K for a 1.5T Civic?

100 % agree. getting stuck in stop and go traffic , in the winter , up hill on the i70 going back to Denver many times curbed the desire to have one as a DD. Third fun car, sure. Would be a blast. Day to day? No thanks.

I'd like to see the take rate if an AT option did exist for the Si and Type R. I bet it would be surprising. There are certainly people who would like the appearance and performance of these models and prefer the convenience, features, and safety of an AT or simply don't know how to or are physically unable to drive an MT.

Particularly when compared to something like the 3-speed manual in the '71 Ford truck I had with a mechanical (not hydraulic) clutch, no power brakes, no power steering, and no air conditioning. That truck was truly difficult to drive.
