2024 wish list

Ya I said it. Since 2023 is a carry over year and it seems all but certain 2024 will introduce a new model maybe we can persuade Honda to add some features. My 2007 has 260k on the ODO hopefully she makes it to 2024 reveal.

I'll start
1. Vented seats - For the love of all things Holy please give us Southern Ridgeline owners some ventilated seat options.
2. Updated Modern Head unit
3. Increased Trunk capacity- Easily the most useful part of my truck. Would love to see it redesigned to be even larger
4. Factory lift/level kit
5. Please don't make the front end ugly again.

3 and 4 are wishful thinking

Mild Hybrid like the Passport is getting
Love the trunk, and wide bed. Length is more than enough. If you need more, get a trailer. More useful anyway.
More tie downs would be great. Especially a way to retain fuel containers for temporary transport. One of the main reasons I have the RL vs an SUV. One drop of gas or diesel inside and you smell it forever. Just a safe way to retain a 5-6 gal container, jerry can or LP tank. THe bed extender turned around facin inward helps, but still could use some kind of divider.
Interior is going to be the same as Pilot and Passport, but the rear window is different. Please enlarge the opening and strenghten the bottom support for carrying 2x4s, trim, super strut, pipes etc. Super useful on my 2013 RL. I load into window, pass thru the front seats and onto the passenger side floor..so it won't go thru the windshield. works great for 8-10 ft. items.
I have no use for sound in the bed, but others do. So make it optional on all models.
Similarly with the sun roof. I hate then, but want the "pseudo" leather seats.
I'd love a stronger 6-8 speed transmission rather than 9 or 10 speed watch mechanism.
Someone mentioned the rail system in the bed and/or a rail system on the bed side tops for tie down, ladder racks or cover.
I'd be Ok if the truck was shrunk back to the Gen 1 size length and width,
maybe Honda should take a cue from there own previous decisions… make a smaller Ridgeline and a slightly larger Ridgeline. Take the current one down to 200” full length (shrinking the bed would work) the. It would compete with the maverick and Santa Cruz then add 10” (bed 6” and cab 4”) this would match the large option of midsize trucks and blow out the midsize competition in specs! This would mimick the passport/pilot option. Same truck same parts mostly but two different options.
What makes you think that the Passport will be offered as a mild hybrid? I hope you haven't been reading MotorBiscuit.
Well, wishful thinking.
I have a 2022 RTL-E and am very happy with the truck. I've towed my ATV (combined weight of ATV and trailer around 1,500 lbs) over the Sierra Nevada Mountains a few times, and back to UTAH, about a 13 hour drive 4 times. I've found that it has ample power for towing, even over the mountains, and gets reasonably good gas mileage both when towing and when just cruising. I frequently cruise at 80 MPH on I-5, Hwy 50 and Utah highways, and find that the power and fuel usage is reasonable. This truck meets my needs for a light duty hauler very well.

Like others have said, I would like ventilated seats and full adjustment controls for the passenger seat. These are nice to have things. I think more importantly is having a transmission that's programmed for a truck, not a car. At higher speed in traffic or on roads with constant elevation changes the transmission hunts for the correct gear and does a less than ideal job. I would also like to have better automatic headlights. When my beams are on automatic I can be in the middle of nowhere and they switch to low beams for no reason. This would be an easy sensitivity software change.

Some of the changes mentioned by others would be nice, but for me not necessary. This is a great little truck and I think it does a good job of achieving what it was designed for, a light duty, every day driver.

Random though and it's not a deal breaker or anything, but over the last few days I really wish I had an actual speedometer and not the digital speed. Shrink the gas and coolant gauge and put a speedometer back in there.

Not gonna happen

it could... Everyone is running full steam ahead into the small truck market. (maybe not the larger one though) but a shorter bed version (passport truck) would probably sell like hot cakes.

Not in the near term. Maybe several years away at best....but not 2024 or 2025 even.

Whatever they do stop selling features they know don’t work! (Wireless charging/ auto high beam) otherwise I agree with everybody else’s upgrade suggestions, especially the obvious such as updated info system and audio. Overall I like my truck, but I can’t help to wonder how great it could be if they would fix the simple things that should’ve been addressed some time ago.

I have a 2022 RT-L that I'm happy with but not thrilled with it. I'm closely watching Toyota to see what their 2023 Tacoma hybrid will include. I do wish the Ridgeline got better gas mileage and had a higher ground clearance, so I may be trading it in for the Tacoma if the new model includes lots of nice upgrades, more cabin space and much improved gas mileage.
Please put the 2023 Pilot center console in the RL ASAP.

My interest in IT and Highways has exposed me to the many reasons why 'features' like those are years away from maturity. I try to avoid them in the models I select and turn them off when I can't, easy for me because I'm retired and half deaf, with long years driving as the only vehicle intelligence.
Get rid of the UGLY dull grey wheels. Did I mention the RL wheels are ugly?
Toyota has thrown down the Gauntlet with the 2024 Tacoma! With a larger cab and more powerful engine options Honda will have to make some real changes to compete.

1- Port over the 3.0 turbo s from Acura. The torque output at low rpms I think make it a better truck engine than sport sedan.
2- If they are going to use the 10 speed give a low first gear at least 50/1 leave 2nd through 10 the same as the zf9 at least for the trail sport. Beef up the torque rating of the trans.
3- Locking diffs.
4- Rework the front structure to allow larger tires.
5- swappable rear trunk box to allow after market products like shallower trunk with full size spare underneath, insulated cooler or 12v fridge opt. Use your imagination!
6- hybrid option with larger inverter ( At lest 2400 watt) and air compressor. (use the space where the spare is currently for good size batter capacity without compromising cab seat storage)
7- increase tow capacity.
8- Vented seats! I live in Texas!
9- More lift than the pilot Trailsport. At least 2" possible air adjustable shock option.
10- Get rid of HPD package unless it actually has something to do with high performance! (Come on Honda your better than this!)
11- Flat towable. If the little crv can do it !?

Nope to most of these changes. If you want a BIG BUBBA truck, then buy one. A RL is not that.

Tacoma is still a BOF truck; no trunk, rear compartment has terrible back set leg room and no flat floor, less than 4' between the rear wheel wells. These are non starters for me. Your wish list is fine but Honda simply isn't going to "specialize" the Ridgeline in most of those ways. It really has to be modeled off of what you see in the Pilot which is where all the R&D is coming from. Is there a locking diff, hybrid option, acura 3.0 turbo etc etc in the Pilot?? No? Then you won't seem them in the Ridgeline. It's too bad that this is Honda's approach but all indications is that that is their business model. Wishing is fine but the reality is something different.
