5 Star Shine

I stumbled on this product called 5 Star Shine that is an alternative to constant washing and waxing. Supposedly it coats your vehicle's paint with a result similar to the non-stick coating on Teflon pans. It is used by the U.S. Navy to keep antennas on their AEGIS cruisers free from exhaust particles and salty sea water build-up.

Has anyone heard of this or used it before? It is a bit pricey at $67 for one application ($47 with discount code "VIPDISCOUNT", if still valid), but it's supposed to last something like 5 years, and dirt can supposedly be rinsed off with a hose.

I found a review here. The guy's only real complaint was that it didn't seem to have a deep shine on par with a quality wax. After six months the dirt still rinses off with a hose...

Oh, and as for the website itself: 5starshine.com

Do you have the Ultimate Chopper too ? I think its made by the same company ;)

If you get it, let us know what you think.

"" JUST WAX IT AND RELAX IT "" oops wrong commercial...er infomercial
It sounds like the Paintguard paint treatment that the dealer applied--I know, I probably got suckered but I had to try it after being told I wouldn't need to wax for 5 years! A body shop owner said that the only thing to be aware of with such treatments is that if you have to paint (like after an accident), the entire panel has to be buffed out before they can paint otherwise the paint won't stick.
It probably IS the paintguard treatment the dealer applied! I'm sure the dealership put a decent markup / labor charge on it...

If I do try it I'll be sure to let everyone know how it goes...maybe I should put it on my current car, that way if it causes problems I won't care. :D
