I took a rock to the windshield about a month ago up in Denali. We get a lot of rocks hit our CRV and only got one small ding. This was the first to hit the Ridgeline and it was a good solid star shaped crack. Typical sized pebble, couldn't see it coming, just the noise and the crack appeared.
I'm a stickler for a super clean windshield. I have glass cleaner and shammys always so it was annoying to have.
Safelite came out and took care of it within a couple of hours and you can see a tiny little dot that most wouldn't be able to see. I'm happy with their service but still annoyed that my windshield isn't pristine.
I'm not sure if it's the material or the angle of the windshield that could be in question but cracked windshields are a way of life in Alaska especially for trucks.
