Hello,

Has anyone installed the OEM roof rails on their own? If so, was it difficult? Any lessons learned you can pass along?

I did. It wasn't difficult at all. When you cut the metal trim measure twice and follow the directions and it will go just like it should.

No, nothing to do inside. The instructions are available online and are pretty complete (no surprises).

I too installed them myself! I did a bunch of accessories! The roof rails were the most labor intensive! As long as you make sure your measurements are correct, it's easy!

Yes it does... You just cost me extra $$ now that I want those roof rails, and window air deflectors...

Are the rails quiet or do you hear whistling? How sturdy are they? Do you think they will carry a heavy kayak?

I wouldn't call it whistling but I do hear wind noise (not loud).
It's easily sturdy enough for a heavy kayak. The spread between the bars is pretty short though. Personally I wouldn't want a really long one (13' +) up there.
