HA! Got this very story on my phone this afternoon! Have yet to read it.

With a bed that integrates a cooler, an audio system and enough power for a 60-inch TV, the 2017 Honda Ridgeline is a tailgater's dream.
$29,475.0
they also think the trunk is a cooler. Cnet ain't what it used to be.

Why the stupid comment? His load was around 3000lbs and most states do not require any additional braking system up to that point because it is safe according to law and god knows how conservative they are. Some states allow 5,000lbs without brakes. Does this mean someone in Texas is stupid because they are towing 4,000 lbs without brakes because in your state it's 1500lbs? Here is a chart. Towing Laws & Requirements | D-Brake
I believe the article's author is a woman. Maybe I missed it, but I did not see where she clearly indicated that her trailer lacked brakes. She did seem to imply that her trailer has E/H brakes that require a TBC to activate them. And she complained about the lack of a TBC on the Ridgeline (even though the RL is pre-wired for one so it can be easily installed.)

It might be reasonable to assume she wasn't using the brakes on her trailer, but the article was somewhat ambiguous, in my opinion.

[Note: The article that came up on my screen seemed very short and had all kinds of pop up ads that made viewing it irritating. It's possible I didn't see the entire article.]

That load was well more than half the weight of his tow vehicle (more like 2/3) - that requires additional braking; I stand by my opinion: he (or she) is a dumbass.

Earlier RidgeLine trunks were both marketed AND USED as a cooler. Does the G2 RL lose that capability?

its a cooler the same as a garbage can is a cooler. you can put ice in it. there is nothing thermal about it. just a metal bin.

Yeah! But garbage cans don't typically come with a drain plug <grin>.

The trunk isn't metal... it's made of poly (plastic) so it'll manage ice just fine. Never mind the fact that Honda purposely put the drain plug in there for the very use as a cooler and marketed it as such as an "additional benefit/use" of the truck's unique trunk feature.

I know in Florida trailer brakes are determined by trailer being towed regardless of tow vehicle weight. I can tell you braking effectiveness is determined by the weight of the tow vehicle.
The point regarding stupidity was that the author clearly indicated lack of a brake controller was a defect or shortcoming in the truck and that the operation of the trailer was impaired because of it. Adding a brake controller is one of the simplest modifications that can be made. Smart people that have trailers equipped with electric brakes use them. Dumb people don't, but then bitch about it.
Another video from Cnet.....

That snow is crazy the way it is piled up on houses and completely buries cars!!!

Beautiful photo of the night sky and starlit Ridgeline, too.

I meant a garbage can is metal. When someone says cooler, I think of something that will HOLD the cold, not just contain ice.

All the curbside garbage cans I've ever seen are plastic... >:)

Ahhh, gotcha! ;-)

Go easy... he must've had this on his mind when he made his post.

Oscar!!! :p

Come to think of it, I have used one of those metal Oscar cans before! I found it in the attic and then filled it with 160F water to scald a 50lb turkey that I had to hang from the rafters to lower into the bucket.
