I pickup up an Infinity Auto-Dim Mirror with Compass on e-bay. It needed a clip adapter to attach to the Honda Windshield mount. The clip and the mirror set me back about $65. A lot cheaper than a new Honda Auto-dim Mirror.

Other than splicing the power pigtail to the Honda Mirror power, It was a piece of cake.

Yes it works great.

I hate flippin' my flippin' mirror too!
Thanks for the tip, larryr. I don't even care about the compass. Was checking Gentex also. Not as cheap as ebay but a lot cheaper than stock.

I assume all Honda and Acura (some Toyotas and some Nissans, and some Subarus too) mirrors use the cam lock method if the mirror attach to the windshield glass. According to the parts places all 2001 and newer Acuras are cam lock.

http://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/crop/200609/2007-acura-tl-18_1600x0w.jpg is a vehicle that is compatible with the model in ebay and it looks to attach to the windshield.

Even if you buy a non honda mirror you can get a cam lock converter to attach any mirror to your Honda Windshield, just make sure you get a pig tail to provide the power to your mirror or you will have to get a wiring kit too and they are not free.

This place sells the cam lock kit and the wiring kits too.

I replaced my stock RTS mirror with the auto-dimming compass mirror from Honda. I like it and use the compass feature pretty often.

The one from ebay is not the one I got from Honda. H&A has it for $218 and it comes with all you need to make the change. Make sure you use the new retaining clip in place of the old one on the stock mirror.

That's the one. Nice price, comparatively speaking.

I could be wrong, but I think it's the same mirror as the one on ebay. The P/N for the one on ebay is different, because it is a replacement P/N for a stock MDX (01--03) mirror, not an accessory mirror.
If you check (Honda/Acura Accessories) for accessory Acura MDX mirrors, it is the same part number as the Ridgeline (all years).
Is that clear? It is not to me, completely.

Look at the pic again. They do not appear the same to me.

Here's the ebay unit:

Here's the one on my RL like from Bernardi:

I agree, they are not identical and I don't even know if that even matters. There may be some difference in size. Looking at H A accessories, it appears they all install the same.
Key points are if you are getting a pigtail (if not a Honda especially) and if an attachment kit is included.

I bought an auto dimming mirror from a fellow ROC member, it is an easy install, and it works well. As mentioned above, it's about a 20-30 minute install. It probably took me a little longer, because I took my time, and I had a little issue with a couple of the bolts...the guy at the assembly plant had cranked them in pretty tight.

Also, as mentioned above, I would definitely get the right harness for the install. Makes the install a %100 easier.

i got the autodim/compass mirror from Bernardi, just got done putting it in today. Not a hard job, but I did have to remount my ScanGauge II. Just not enough room above the mirror even with the optional mounting kit, since the new mirror is curved slightly and the original was straight. So I have it pointed down at an angle, velcroed at the top edge to the headliner just above the mirror.
I actually liked the form of the original mirror. It was more squared off and a little longer. But I longed for the auto dim feature.

This got me thinking...

My wife's Oddy came with an auto dimming mirror with a back-up camera. It was not listed as an 'option' but 'standard equip' Anyone know of a source for these? I think I would rather have a back up camera as well as auto dim.

Hmmm... this place makes me spend too much $$$ :clover:
