Awful gas mileage in my new 2022 be

I'm 60 miles into my 2nd tank of gas. I have a 2022 black edition. Love the truck. I put 367 miles on it so far 235 are on the Mass turnpike. Eco has been on since 30 mile mark. I am averaging 14.3 mpg. Got as high as 15.1 on highway. HELP.

I do not have any personal experience with the subject.
I was asking for verification that two tanks of 100% gasoline corrected poor fuel economy on E10 and then allowing subsequent improved fuel economy on E10.

Did I misunderstand his statement?

Absolutely not, I am the one that misunderstood his post and claims of somehow resetting the engine by running non ethanol fuel through it.

My apologies

Please back up your claim with some verifiable facts.
More myths; I run boats, jet skis, a 63 Corvette, a Durango and my RIdgeline on regular 'ole 87 octane ethanol laced gas...
My shop that handles small engine repair says they only use non-ethanol gas unless it's an emergency. They report the ethanol gas begins to deteriorate very quickly and they said if you use ethanol gas make sure it doesn't sit around for more than 2 weeks. They only buy small amounts for their shop so they can always get 'fresh gas' to avoid engines fuel systems getting screwed up. Just their 2 cents worth.
My 22 was pretty low, 18-19 mpg, for the first 4k miles. Started to creep up after that and now with 7k miles I'm about 23- 24 mpg overall, rural driving mostly. No long highway trips yet. Initially I hand calculated but for me the indicated mpg was very close, within 1mpg, so why bother.
I like this response a lot. I have about 4k miles on my 22, averaging about 18.5mpg around town on residential streets. I would be really happy if it creeps up over 20 mpg.

I get 23-24 in mixed driving most of the time. Just turned over 10k miles on my 2022 on my way back from Colorado yesterday. Computer said 29.2 mpg when I got out to the Boulder area. Got 28.8 for the entire trip of over 1100 miles, including a run to Red Rocks and a bunch of city driving out there. Avg was down to 27.7 before I left to come home. Most of the return trip was on "Colorado blend" gas of 85 octane, and I guesstimate I got around 30 mpg. 2 lane roads almost the whole trip at around 65 mph.

If you aren't getting over 20 mpg's, something is badly out of whack, in my opinion.

My "E" with about 3K miles now is avg 21.5-22.5 in town. As stated on different post, changing tires made a big difference.
Taco Troll?

Give it some time to break in. I took a trip right after turning 1000 miles; got 28 MPG @ 64 MPH (on cruise). You might look into a bed cover. They say that adds 1-2 MPG.

Another thing that I did - added Chevron gas treatment on a mid-grade (89 octane) tank full before the trip. Remember your truck sits for a month or so with very short run times before you buy it, so it helps to clean it out from possible carbon buildup. Also, my Honda sealer said to never use the higher ethanol E85/88 gas due to injector issues after prolonged use...just isn't worth it. I only use the "Higher Tier" fuels (Exxon, Shell, Sunoco, '76, etc. Google it).

If so, then he's probably disappointed that most of us are posting great mileage numbers instead of yelling "me too!"...

FWIW, this morning (3:30 am) I took a 2 hour trip on the Interstate. I set the CC at 61-62 mph and enjoyed a less traveled time (very little traffic). I got a best ever 31 mpg according to the computer, 28 actual mpg when computed by hand. I just had. the time to not hurry, relax to some tunes & see what happened. I guess slowing down really helps the aerodynamic drag factor. Usually I get 22-23-24 mpg at 70-75 mph. My RL is a 2021 Sport with 14k miles. I did add the flux capacitor to the atomic clock so that might have helped.....

Just towed 1400 pounds from Florida to Georgia mountains. Averaged 17.2 mpg . Often keeping up with [email protected] 80 mph . Average around town. 21.3 mpg Type A driver

I’m a newbie so this is just my two cents on this topic.
My new 2022 RTL-E and just reached 1800 miles. Before this weekend I had only driven locally and averaged 23.5mpg. This weekend we took a 873 mile highway trip and our mpg dropped to 21.5mpg. I’d estimate our average highway speed was 72-78 mph. I was stunned that I get better fuel efficiency in local driving than highway driving. The truck feels like a blunt instrument going down the highway. I have run in ECO mode at all times so far. My next highway trip I’ll try driving with ECO turned “Off” and see how that impacts highway mpg.
For me, most of my driving will be local so the 23.5 is great! I was just disappointed in the highway mpg.
Great forum with lots of great content, thanks
I get 22-23 overall avg. 50% short tripping around town, 50% open road, that's on 87 oct reg w/ethanol. I don't have as heavy a foot as I used to and don't jackrabbit very often, so? And I NEVER use ECO button and ALWAYS turn off auto shut off.
This is what I get in my 17 with eco off and VCM disabled. I would say OP has an issue or a really heavy foot. I do some driving around 70-75mph and my mpg doesn’t plummet like they’re getting.
Don’t know if this helps… I have a 2022 RTL-E and run regular gas on it. I get about 400-410 miles per tank with 10-15 to spare.
That's great....but don't belive it
Check tire pressure and see if parking brake is fully releasing. The drag from low tire pressure effects MPG. Honda recommends (to me) are too low. I do 36 in all tires and saw 2 MPG improvement.

A friends Ridgeline was only getting 15 MPG - tire pressure was 35. Took to dealer and found that the parking brake was not fully releasing and was lightly dragging. After they repaired the cable in the wheel, the MPG increased by 5 MPG.

On a flat surface in Neutral, you should be able to push your Ridgeline. If it takes too much effort, it may be dragging parking brake(s).

My 2 cents.

Try running ethanol free gas(also known as recreational gas). It can be a little difficult to find and cost about a dollar more. Ethanol is awful for any engine. My gas mileage starts to drop time to time. I’ll run two tanks of ethanol free gas and the motor resets and I get all my mileage back.
Since I bought this 2022 I've complained and dealer looks at me .they say 14 to 16 is good. There's nothing honda can do. I asked if they can check the trim settings, put it in the computer or something. What a Waste, the company has lied about the mph just like Volkswagen did..

Our 2001 Jetta TDI was consistently making for us 60 MPG+ with power to spare. We would laugh when a Prius owner would try to brag about their car’s mileage, especially when we would be towing our folding camping trailer and still making 35 MPG! And, coincidentally, we just posted this last week of our Ridgeline showing 29 MPG with 70 MPH showing on the speedometer, and the only time we see below 20 MPG has been while towing our enclosed 6X12 cargo trailer. So, your comment causes me to question is it really your Ridgeline with something amiss, or is it possibly something else, like maybe your driving habits and/or style?

The dealer will tell you anything just to make you go away. You already bought the vehicle; you are just a headache to them now.

That must be very frustrating. Most of my driving is local and I average 21-23 mpg consistently. I do see my mpg drop considerably on occasions where I do use the highway. But even then I don’t drop that far. As someone told me in April 2022 when I bought my car/truck it’s not very aerodynamic, it’s more like a shoe box pushing air down the road. It’s like a hybrid where it does better around town than it does in he highway. I saw a couple folks made some suggestions, my suggestion would be maybe try another dealer. There are times when a bad vehicle comes off the assembly line. In early 2022 I ordered and took delivery of a new Mercedes’ SUV and had it 4 days when the electronic steering system went out, then it sat the next 43 days in the service dept. the day I got it back and was headed home a voice came over the drivers assistance system asking if I needed an ambulance because I had been in a “catastrophic” crash. I was not in any crash I was simply driving. The car had some sort of gremlins with numerous issues so I traded it in for the Ridgeline and haven’t looked back. I learned the hard way that the lemon law is a bunch of crap. I have been tracking the Mercedes’ via the vin# and I can see where it must have been bought & sold repeatedly (or wholesaled) because it’s been for sale in 4 different dealers across 3 states. I know from exploring the Lemon law that it’s very difficult to get out of a bad vehicle. If you can’t resolve your issue maybe consider trading it for a color (😉😉, that’s supposed to be a wink) you really like. At these gas prices it could be cheaper in the long run. sorry you’re having trouble, good luck
