Hi All,

When the power door locks first kick in...just after pulling out of the driveway, for instance...there's a soft beeping sound. Any idea what that's from? Is it a solenoid? Sounds like it originates from one source...

Just curious.

Thanks,

Will

When it's cold outside, my driver's door lock actuator makes a soft, high-pitched tone for a second or so when locked. To me, it sounds like the motor brushes are stopping "in between contacts" on the commutator resulting in vibration on the armature.

What he said.. haha.

But I have heard this as well. My other Hondas used to do this too.

I would call it more like a meow.

That sounds like a worn door lock actuator. It will likely continue to work for quite a while. I've owned many Hondas with this sound.

The passenger rear actuator on my RL makes this noise intermittently. I plan on replacing the actuator when I replace my rear speakers so that I only take apart the door once.

Sounds like it's common. I hope it's not a worn actuator. My 2008 has slightly over 20k on it...I obviously don't drive it much but it has always made that sound...screech, meow, beep...whatever...I wish I had more time to investigate.

Wouldn't it be sweet to invent silent door locks?

Tnx all,

Will
