Hi all,
Looking at adding a bike mount on top of my Bakflip VIP tonneau cover. For those that own a Bakflip you'll recall that the tonneau is secured by 4 elevator bolts with fastening knobs underneath. My idea is to utilize these fastening knobs by taking an aluminum bar, drilling 4 holes, and mounting the aluminum using the Bakflip bolts and knobs. Then attach the fork mounts into the aluminum bar. Was thinking of using 3/8" x 6" T6061 stock.
Not sure if 3/8" is too thin to hold down bolts securely for each fork mount. The bar would be painted black or if really motivated, covered in vinyl. I think this would give a very clean look.
