The small details are everything. After the swap my truck will be getting a much-needed full detail job.
Are you planning on amending the original owners manual with J37 specific fuel requirement language?

If not, maybe you'll consider changing the fuel door label to read: "Premium Fuel Only. *See dopes6070". :act024:

Your project is bad ass!

A couple notes If anyone does this swap. The RL injector Clips will not fit the J37 Denso injectors, they are different. All you need to do is remove the pins from your factory clips and put them into the injector clips that come on the TL engine harness. Also, use the ZDX air intake tube with a 3.5" 30-degree aluminum elbow to meet the filter housing with a 3.5" coupler. It is much cleaner trying to use as many factory parts as possible.

My list of things to complete...

1. Get correct hose clamps for ZDX intake tube
2. Paint aluminum elbow matte black
3. Replace intake mani cover with accord v6 MT part for a more factory appearance. I could use the Ridgeline intake manifold cover but it's ugly and I don't want to put the plastic back on
4. Finish street tuning
5. Take the RL to Bisimoto for the final tuning and dyno
Beautiful! Looking forward to your dyno results. By chance is there a pre-swap dyno run to compare to post-swap?

Also, I'm damned happy to hear you're going with correct hose clamps on the intake tube. Everything is soooo damned purdy, my OCD was shorting out over the orientation of the clamp head closest to the throttle body. :nerd:

Here is a shot of kTuner... The software is excellent!!
Bloody Fugging Hell! Damn you dopes, damn you!

It's one thing to dangle an awesome, total sleeper mod like this in front of drooling enthusiasts lusting for more cow bell in their RL's, but to toss another log on the fire by teasing bit-weenies with cool software dashboard GUI's is the equivalent of waterboarding your own troops!

Project envy, Hardware envy. Displacement envy. Stealth envy. One-of-a kind envy. Software envy. Results envy. Is there no end to your cruelty?

I pity the poor unsuspecting fully hot rodded, noisy piped Taco you bump into at a stop light!

Seriously. Hands down, without a doubt, no question about it, this is the single most awesome mod in RL history! Very nice work, Very nice post authoring. Very nice attention to detail.

Here are a couple new pictures. You can see the intake manifold cover and aluminum elbow have been replaced. Unfortunately the rubber elbow just doesn't fit quite right. I'm still looking for another option and may even consider using the stock intake manifold and throttle body so I can use the stock intake tube, but I will dyno test everything with the tuner if it has to come to that to make sure I'm not losing much power. I will not accept losing more than 5 horsepower even if it means I need to figure out how to mold rubber myself haha!
Hey! Your send/return coolant hose clamps are .008° out of alignment with one another.

And you've got some schmootz on the throttle body throat. And random finger prints too.

But other than those details, she looks FABULOUS!

Maybe we could resurrect the ole So-Cal gang and have another Tech-Day at the 5S Dude ranch... Your truck would surely be the talk of the town!

The tank will only take a small amount of space in the trunk so I'm not overly concerned there but I do like the bed side idea! Ill have to pull one of the side panels and see how much room there is.

I could have supercharged the 3.5. It has 10:1 compression so it would probably be happier with just the intercooler. Hopefilly I will be able to make even more power with the 3.7 and it's better VTEC system, cams and all that. That and I also had access to this engine at a steal of a price!!

According to a calculator, my effective compression ratio under boost will be around 15:1. This will basically need race gas to prevent detonation unless we pull all kinds of timing, but that makes exhaust valves hotter and decreases power! Where's the fun in that! Methanol can cool my intake temps and increase octane both of which I think I'll need.
>:)
Seconding Mak's idea about utilizing space available in bed sides. Although shape of tank(s) would be limited to space available, there's a bunch of room above both wheel tubs - and the space behind the tubs to the tail light inserts is virtually empty.

I'm wondering what happens when you're driving around and run the water-meth tank dry. You can't just fill it up anywhere, can ya?

Here are a few shots of the bed without the panels that I stole from somewhere.

Heh! Your thread reminds me of that ad on TV about Geico and wanting more! "I switched to a J37 and got more!... Everybody likes more!"

Even a minor fender bender in that area has potential to damage anything mounted back there.

Clearly, inside the trunk is better overall protection. Everything comes at a cost, function, protection, accessibility, level of effort. A balancing act for dopes. Something tells me whatever he does, it'll be done very well!

EDIT:
Apologies for weird reply. Was composing when something urgent came up & didn't realize it had posted before finishing thoughts. But you meant what I knew. :)
