It limits the transmission to 1-4. Should help when going down hills with a trailer.

It's in the big manual (the one you need to order from Honda in the first 6 months for free). I think it's also mentioned in the User Manual (the smaller book that comes with the truck).

It limits the transmission to the first four gears (D4) when pushed and is indicated on the dash. And, yes it is described the owners manual and by search on this forum.

I didn't know about the big book who do I see about ordering one?

In the simplest of terms:
Highway speeds uphill, D4 drops the transmission into 4th gear for more power................
Highway speeds down hill, D4 drops the transmission into 4th gear acting as a brake..............
