can active noise cancellation be turn off?

with AC off, Radio off, I hear some high pitch noise in my RTL-E. its louder on the driver side. It sound like electrical type sound. mine is not the only one, I've been in three rt.-e and they all have this sound. I am guessing its the active noise cancellation. Anyone know how to turn it off?

I have an 2017-RTLE as well, but I don't hear the high-pitched noise. Then again, my hearing is not what it used to be. Too much time spent on Marine Corps tarmacs around jets.

Yes - you can turn off the ANC.
Open the diagnostic menu on the radio (ignition on, car in park, three finger salute - simultaneous press audio power button/menu/brightness).
Select "detail info"
Select "audio check"
Select "ANC Check"
Select "ANC" to turn on or off.
I believe (from previous comments) that it resets to 'on' once you turn the ignition off then on.

Thank you for the quick reply. I will try this and report back. Yeah, I thought it was just my rtl-e. but then i bought my dad one too and the same noise. it has to be pretty quite to to hear it. the sound comes on with accessories mode too. I asked the honda service rep. and he said there are so many electronic in these new cars that i am going to hear something.

There are three other links below for threads of ANC: Of course it will be good to try as a test. But most likey it will not be caused from ANC. ANC works in the lower register of frequencies. Sounds like a different issue.

Did not work. I cannot tell the difference between off and on of ANC. Oh well, I just turn the music higher.

Describe it more. Or capture it on your phone and send it to youtube for us to hear. I see you mention Driver's side... but

I don't hear it in mine, but I'm no longer a spring chicken. There are frequencies that we hear when younger, but not as we age. I wonder if this fits in that realm.

Whine... buzz? Whine

If you turn the power of the radio off, does it go away? No. It's easier to hear this noise with the radio off.

Do you hear it in accessory mode? Yes, sound come on 5 sec after the head unit come on.

You say, anytime the vehicle is turned on, 5 seconds after bootup. Goes away when you turn the radio off.

That narrows it to the audio system obviously.
Is it only on the connected devices. (rule out cable, bluetooth, USB drive)
Is your USB ports free of debris
Does the whine get louder and softer when you raise and lower the volume
Toggle through all things while your truck in accessory mode. Headlights on/off, Dome lights on/off, turn parking sensors off (bottom left side), see if any of those change or eliminate the noise.

Depending on your answer:

So far, sounds like a faulty discrete amp channel (but far from conclusive)
Could be device injected (faulty cable, debris shorting ports, harness fault)
Most likely Not RF if you hear it on USB selection with no cable connected (although technically you could)
Not so much a grounding issue as it is the same engine off or on and doesn't deviate.
Even though you tested, one would assume, the ANC is not active in Accessory Mode (but who knows with Honda)
Not the same high pitch ringing caused by wind at highway speeds, as described in other forums. As it is through the audio system.

I haven't had this stereo apart and I haven't looked at the parts list or connection. There are some systems that include the amp at the speaker (powered speaker)... I imagine Honda probably does not do that with this system. It would be safe to say if your check list above doesn't produce anything conclusive, that service should take a gander and get it repaired under warranty. Even though subtle, you never know what else it may be impeding (such as Bluetooth calls or ANC).

I am going to try this thanks. Before I go and unplug the whole system I’m going to turn it off want to see if it corrects my issue. I did the SVCM and I still feel like the active noise cancellation system is still trying to mute sound that’s not there. Because I’m hearing some kind of drone coming from the “engine”at low rpm highway speeds and then if I put my foot down just a touch (not enough to downshift but to deactivate VCM If it were enabled), the sound goes away.
