Can you disable the airbags in front for kids?

Under the computer there is a hazard switch and next to that it says something about the passenger side airbag but it's not a switch.

Is there a way to turn it off if you want to put your kid in the front seat?

The airbag is deactivated automatically when an occupant under a certain weight sits in the front seat. I think it's like 65lbs or something. If you turn the ignition on and press on the seat with your hand that should be enough for the deactivation light to come on.

Correct, it is based on weight and will turn off automatically. You should see the indicator come on.

Sorry for any perceived attitude (Former EMS guy).

Four doors, five seats, put the kiddos in the back seats.

I always have, and I agree.
I'm not sure at what age- weight/height she can be in the front. She's going to be 9 and has never been in the front seat but often asks. I know airbags and little one's don't mix, and I'm not sure when we are going to let her ride up front for the first time, but I wanted to know the airbag situation.

I do appreciate your concern and PSA

Different rules and regs for different places (State laws). They should be relatively easy to search for (Google). The best places to find information on the truck is the owners manual (Can be found online as well) and the worst place to find legal information is a forum.

Just like on a firearm, I never trust "safeties".
Does the sensor turn off the airbag, or turn it on? In other words, isn't the passenger airbag off unless the sensor detects a sufficiently heavy occupant?
