I am a believer in preventative maintenance and lived with/by PM all my professional life.

Ergo, I am on the side that would consider you to be a cheap a$$. ;)

In fact, I change my tranny fluid every other OCI. Oil and filter by the MM. Transfer assembly and rear diff by the MM. I also do the brake fluid every 3 year-ish. The power steering fluid every 50k-ish. Air and cabin filters every 30k-ish.

I let the TB/wp go to 120k-ish miles before doing that service.

I value my investment in the RL and prefer to maintain it accordingly. Does that guarantee me a long and troublefree service life? No, not necessarily. But just like buying Honda/Toyota, I increase my odds substantially. IMO, of course.

Why would you not wish to continue the recommended (minimal) service intervals?

I frequently go past the 0% mark by several hundred miles before taking care of business. That won't hurt a thing. But if you postpone for months and thousands of miles, you might even forget about it. So I suggest simply being reasonable about it and you should be good.

I see no purpose in those myself.

YMMV.

The only thing I MIGHT consider would be to use Techron a tank or two before an oil change. Or maybe Seafoam if there was an issue that a teardown might otherwise require (tick in the engine or maybe an oil leak that wasn't readily fixable).... just in the hope that it might fix whatever ails the engine.

I don't think there's any substitute for consistent, routine servicing (maintenance) and good operating procedures.

Seafoam??? There is absolutely no proof it does anything. Honda doesn't recommend additives of any kind so why would you?
Because some have reported it to fix RMS leaks. Before I spent the money to have the RMS replaced, I would be willing to try Seafoam just like I mentioned above... as an option to cracking the case. I certainly don't think it would hurt anything. But neither do I think it will help anything if everything is running normally.

So for normal operations and conditions, I see no benefit to additives, etc.

Nah. Just suck it up. I'm sure it filters ok. But it is bottom of the barrel in construction quality. OTOH, you can toss it and buy a good one for just a few bucks. Your call. You're not out much money either way.
