Charging doesn't require a lot of power/amps. the power in the 7 pin is meant to supply a low current charge. anytime you have a greater potential/voltage applied to a battery than the actual battery voltage it will absorb that potential and charge. I recommend that you use a shop charger on your trailer battery if it is dead. The truck circuit won't carry enough amperage to effectively recharge a dead battery.

is there some protection to prevent the RV charger and RL power from having a direct connection?
