Let us know if the moose pay any attention to your new horns. Years ago drove through Newfoundland and for two days never saw any of it the fog was so thick.

 >:)

The drone policy was mostly about keeping them away from airplanes. When the Honorable Marc Garneau put the legislation forward it mostly dealt with proximity to airports, and altitude. As long as you are keeping away from the Goose Bay airport you should be ok. As with most things in life, if you don't cause any problems, there won't be any problems.

Thanks! Any other info on that road as far as gas and food is concerned? It has only been done a few years so I suspect it will still be pretty sparse.
I hope I can get that extra day off I need to make that trip. Leaving after dessert on thanksgiving, should be up there Saturday sometime, just in time to head back!

Never been to Goose Bay myself, I mostly just remember the drone legislation as it was in the news earlier this year.
you are sooooo close! It is one of the things I wanted to do for a long time, I just love the remote places. I was going to go on a XRL650 but I am getting too old for that.

Aaaaaand I checked my passport. It seems I will NOT being going to Churchill falls or goose bay or any where in Canada! :frown:
Look sad and say doh. Doh.
I will try again for Christmas time

1500 miles is not that close to me, but yeah I guess I should put it on the list.

AAAAAAnd I going. Only 2 years late but hey, I am doing the best I can with what I got! Leaving tonight and it looks like some winter weather in the way but I love a challenge. Anyone up in Happy valley/goose bay area or have traveled there and know which is a nicer hotel to stay Most likely 1 or 2 nights might even get there for new years. You guys sell Jack Daniels up there? :>) Not a drinker but wow, it's going to be 2020!!! We are in the future!
Not looking for an invite, just a decent clean hotel, hopefully with a bar. I should make it in 3 days...?
Going to have to log back on with my phone and try to navigate with that tiny screen!
Should be leaving about 8pm or so.

Aaaand I'm back! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The big shocker of 2019 AND 2020 is that new Years eve is a family holiday up there! ALL the stores closed at 4pm, even the restaurant in the hotel! Not a single gas station or bar was open. So, in the morning, NO coffee or food for 380 MILES! THAT was a rough start to the new year. But I made it back with no damage. The truck handled perfectly, great gas mileage and handling in some super cold (-27!!!) temps and 2-5 FEET of snow! The roads only had about 2-4 inches of hardpack snow and ice which is so cold it was almost like driving on asphalt!
