Ive never owned one of these but can see numerous uses. Any recommendations on model or capacity for an "all-around" unit?
I have the cheapest, but it is more than adequate for my needs. Very good quality and customer service. JNC300XL. I got it with their Solar battery saver that mates to your OBD connector under the dash to maintain radio presets, etc. while your battery is disconnected.

Try the link now. I have no idea why the original link was bad.

I bought the JNC660 for my RL. It's now $100 with Prime shipping. I put a $70 one from Costco in my wife's Pilot. Either seems adequate, but I think the Clore unit is a better unit, perhaps overkill.

I also got the Solar ESA30 (12v to OBD2) adapter for the keep alive function offered by the JNC660.
Reading this prompted me to check out my old Jump Start Battery. It's a 600Amp from EverMaxx. purchased from Walmart (Jan 2005/ $75). For the past year or so I've had to recharge it monthly. Last month I simply set it aside - intending to replace the battery.

So, after reading this, I dug into it. One terminal was somewhat caked with white powdery stuff. Once I had the battery part number I started looking online, the best price replacement battery was over $53- to me that's too much for an old unit that could be replaced for under $100.

For grins and giggles I cleaned things up and am currently recharging it. If it quickly runs down again then it'll be history and I'll replace it.
I have 3 300's and they work like a charm. Have had them 2.8 yrs, 2.5 and 11 months. Charge once a year. All are perfect. $44 shipped is a bargain.

Oops $48 but still a bargain.
Clore sends out email reminders to recharge your starter's battery on a regular basis. Like every 60 days I believe. They also offer a very reasonable exchange if and when that battery dies.
Mine are garaged but hold a charge forever. I'm not sure what's regular basis but twice a year should be good for anyone. Every 60 seems excessive,

I thought so too, but I guess they have to factor in those that get used fairly often and are not recharged regularly. It might be more like every 90 days, I know it's not more than that, same rules apply.

China.....they really have a huge product list beyond just 'jump starters'.
Too bad.. the quality is excellent.
Several manufacturers, including Clore, use CTEK 'smart charging' units and put their own face on it...
CTEK is designed in Sweden but also made in China.

DARN.....................'guess I don't need one as bad as I thought.
Of course, that was your reason for asking.. you can safely assume very little is made here that is reasonably priced, unfortunately.

It was really nice traveling in the EU a few weeks back. Not much made in China

Its now back to $129, the same as always.
Keep watching the Black Friday deals. They sold out kinda quick at $89. A bigger one goes off at 9am and a smaller one at 5 pm tomorrow if you're looking for one.
