Hello there-- 2014 Sport...

At 16000 miles, just started developing a "popping" noise upon cold starting and cranking the wheel first thing in the morning. Some feedback in the steering wheel, as well.

Coincides with a whining noise from the PS starting. Checked fluids, all good, no sign of leaks, everything full.

Called dealer, and they are going to look at it... anyone every hear of anything like this?

My situation only occurs in cold morning ://

my crazy story....I bought an 2006 Ridgeline in May of this year and it must have been a lemon :/
I kept putting money in it and the final situation occurred 2 weeks ago .
It was a cold morning .....only 47 degrees and I’d start my truck and it sounded like I needed power steering fluid. A loud and grinding noise however it would stop after I drove it 2-3 miles. I consulted a mechanic and he said it’s the power steering box and it would cost $1500.00 so I sold it and I got a bought 2010 Ridgeline just last Thursday.
And Friday am I got in it to go to work and unbelievable the same situation occurred
😮❗it was making that same exact sound/noise 😡😡and it stops after 2-3 miles of driving it 😮😮😡❗
I did call the dealer and he the device manager said he’s never heard of that
(( I will record this situation occurring tomorrow am
Anyone experiencing this situation and can someone please advise. I would deeply appreciate !

Popping and feedback in the steering wheel as the OP stated doesn't sound normal.

I think that whining noise that you describe is common in these engines. Both my 07 Ridgeline and 07 Pilot have some power steering whine in the cold weather start ups. I saw recently on YouTube that it could be the o-ring on one of the pump connections. It leaks and sucks in air causing the whine. I haven't tried to make the repair yet as it doesn't seem to cause any issue except noise and I've had both vehicles for a few years now.

All my trucks have lived outside. On the G1s if it was cold overnight (cold for here) -15c or so there would be belt squeal in the first start of the day. After that it was good and if it was closer to freezing there was no squeal. I grew up on the Prairies and it was a lot colder and noisy start up was a lot more common.

There was no extra noise or issues as soon as I let go of the starter though. For whatever reason the G2s have never done this.

Im sorry to hear that you're experiencing the same situation as I am !! I did put a new dealer O ring.....very easy job to do and unfortunately it did not work ( !! Im essential worker and ALL of my neighbors comment that they hear the loud terrible noise every morning when I leave to go to work everyday!! They too are very confused...its soooo frustrating and this is my second Ridgeline!! I sold the first 2006 for the same reason a month ago and I just got 2010 right after and the same exact situation is occurring : 0000 : (((( !!!
My experience is this is a daily situation when the temperature is below 63 degrees. Interestingly that no one in the world can explain and/or fix this situation and its a common Ridgeline situation that everyone is experiencing !!
My dealer is aware of this situation and Im still waiting for him to advise me on my options and I hope I can take it to the dealer and get this fixed. Sorry about this frustration novel lol

A simple mechanic's stethoscope should help isolate and confirm if the PS unit is making the noise. Just be careful using it around rotating parts of the engine. I used one to isolate a whine to an alternator.

There may be cheaper ones, but I tend to like Lisle products.

Thank you for this information! Im thinking my brother has this tool and hopefully can try it : )) I will update this post asap when I hopefully find the answer/solution
