Cowl Color

The cowl holding the lower grill and fog lights is pictured often as a silver/gray and elsewhere as black, and often both matched to the same exterior color, so asking for real world experience... thanks. If you are willing to post your color/trim/last4VIN, could help to figure this one out, many thanks.

I'm going to guess the silver/gray is only on the RTL-E. I have an RTL-T and its all black. In the photos where you can tell the silver/gray cowl is also paired with chrome door handles.
Mine is silver/gray - not sure why they just didn't make them all black
I'm not sure it adds anything by not being black.
I believe it is plain black (unpainted) plastic on all trims except:
RTL-E gets silver gloss paint
Black Edition gets black gloss paint

The Canadians probably get diamond encrusted pure platinum on all trims

I've seen pictures on the G2 picture thread of RTL-E that have the black cowl, unless I'm mistaken.

I'm curious too with this, as I'm waiting on my dealership to get my White RTL-E on their allocation for August/September.
Interesting... I really prefer the black, especially against the silver paint where the cowl does not seem to match. Anything calling attention to that goofy cowl can't be good. I would almost consider going 80s stooge and adding the front bra:

Silver only on RTL-E. Black on others.
This is what I figured, but someone already polled:

+1 RTL/RTL-T with grey cowl

and some of the google picture label grey cowl models as RTL-T... think it might just be early production weirdness?
I'm starting to wonder if its color specific or an option. I'm waiting on my White RTL-E and kind of hope it has the silver, but I've seen other White RTL-E on the G2 picture thread that have black. I'm hoping someone here cracks the code.
It's whatever they have lying around on the factory floor that day.
...except of course the diamond encrusted Canadian ones

The CA models actually have a switch on the lower left panel that changes the cowl color, and the cowl and the switch are both heated and cooled.

Your truck was the one I looked for in the picture thread since I'm waiting on the same thing. Some pictures it looked black but could've been the lighting and my tiny laptop monitor at work. Should I be expecting the grey painted when my E arrives?

RTL-Mod
CAN OF PLASTI-DIP

OEM Honda Part 71110-T6Z-A20 | Front Bumper Face Skid Garnish

looking at the poll result is confusing... why the different when it comes to the same trims ?? ( different trims I can understand but why among same trims the same parts are of different colors ? :surprise:

The content of the poll questions renders them invalid. Here's why:

BE/RTL-E with black cowl 4 22.22%
BE/RTL-E with grey cowl 5 27.78%

The BE has a black painted garnish while the RTL-E has a silver painted garnish yet the two models are combined in each question. The 4 who voted "black" must have a BE. The 5 who voted "grey" must have an RTL-E.

RTL/RTL-T with black cowl 7 38.89%
RTL/RTL-T with grey cowl 1 5.56%
RT/RTS with black cowl 1 5.56%
RT/RTS with grey cowl

All RT, RTS, RTL, and RTL-T have black unpainted garnish. The sole person who voted "grey" probably answered incorrectly, although it's slightly possible the wrong garnish was installed at the factory. One member here bought a Black Edition with a steering wheel that didn't have red stitching and had a photo to support their claim.

The Sport model was not mentioned in the poll, but it comes with the same, black painted garnish as the BE.

Sorry to say it again, but cannot stand the look of the silver insert, and the -E is my target trim. (it actually looks just ok against the lighter colors). Otherwise it just calls so much attention to itself, and looks like a lot of vulnerable cheap plastic. While the black cowl is certainly plasticky too, it looks more like a function-first bumper (and still in the bottom tier of design decisions on the RL2). Was this done by an intern?
When you first land on the Honda Ridgeline web page, there is video of a Ridgeline moving across the screen. It's not an RTL-E because the door handles are not chrome, yet the front garnish is gray which doesn't match the parts breakdown. Also, if you look at each individual model on the "build and price" feature, the RT is the only model that shows a black unpainted garnish - the rest have gray garnish except the Sport and BE. Given the historical inaccuracy of the Ridgeline website, I tend to trust the parts list more at this time. It was chock full of errors at launch and for some time after. Invalid wheel combinations were shown, a photo of the HR-V's climate control panel was shown, incorrect number of drive wheels listed on the RTL-E and BE, conflicting information regarding features... Those are just a few examples. Now, it appears the garnish colors are wrong. If you go on Cars.com and look at photos (actual photos taken by the dealer, not stock photos) of each trim, you'll see that actual vehicles match the parts breakdown and not the website.

In short, the parts breakdown I posted earlier appears correct. The Ridgeline website still contains errors.

I am in the same boat...will probably plasti-dip mine, along with those gaudy chrome door handles....
