Looks like that one is powered by 12v too. No stepdown converter needed. I wish it came with a rearview mirror mount like the G1W-C. I am not much of a fan of suction mounts.

I have a Garmin Dash Cam 20 wired directly into power above the rear view mirror. No wires hanging down and it tucks in right behind the mirror -- the driver can barely see it.

Best Buy is having a killer sale at the moment because I believe it has just been discontinued by Garmin.

Roak

Ps. Full disclosure: I'm a Garmin fanboy :)

We upgraded iPhones this past week and made available my iPhone 5s. I downloaded a free app from the Apple app store called DashCam. Tried it out today, seems to work ok, with a few quirks, but it has a google map interface, speed, etc. and options for forward or backward looking cameras, as well as sound. Still testing it, but seems to be a no-cost alternative.

New HD 1080p Dash Cam Video Recorder Rearview Mirror Car Camera Vehicle DVR | eBay

i bought this one a few months ago and its been working pretty good. there's an auto start and auto shutdown feature so u can just put it up and forget it. it also automatically overwrites old videos when you run out of space. the seller has a youtube channel with a demo of it in action. i have it hardwired and mounted in place of the stock rearview mirror.

I gotta say I really like my Garmin NuviCam LMTHD. It records everything in 1080, has GPS coordinates and time stamps. Plus I can have a conversation with it.
Can you add a pic of your Nuvicam is mounted?

TIA
