If you are gonna need a wire why not just plug the phone in with it ? Seems simple enough to me and it works better and charges faster with a direct connection ?
That is exactly what I ended up doing for my iPhone. Works great. With or without case. Plus a wireless dongle. Life is good.I saw this item posted in another thread, but the thread was locked. Otherwise I would have posted it there.
Has anyone used one of these? It looks nice. Does it work? Does it fit in the current defect wireless charger area? Or has to go in the center console? View attachment 437954

As I understand how this works, the charging pad does have a wire that plugs in to a USB slot. You would leave that plugged in. Just lay your phone in the tray.If you are gonna need a wire why not just plug the phone in with it ? Seems simple enough to me and it works better and charges faster with a direct connection ?
So this would actually fit in the existing charging area? My phone barely fits in there as it is.This does not replace the OEM charger, but lays on top of existing one. I have this one and it works every time and and the wire is tucked in behind the 12 outlet so it looks clean. Almost the same size as existing charger pad. I did turn OFF the OEM charger to avoid any conflict using the system settings. This is inexpensive and amazing that Honda can't come up with something this simple that works so well. Amazon has them for about $20.
if your phone barely fits this may not be the solution for you. It does take up some space - about 1/8 of an inch in height. You could be drastic and remove the existing charging tray and use a Dremel and hollow out space for the new tray to drop down in to the slot - it may fit then. You will not have lost anything, except a poor excuse for a charging tray (unless you trade vehicles often). So this would actually fit in the existing charging area? Thank you, but I don't trust myself to be carving away at my console. I should be able to place this in my console and plug it in there. Part of the reason my phone barely fits on the existing charger is I have the AA Wireless dongle plugged in and the tiny black AAW brick covers part of the charging tray.if your phone barely fits this may not be the solution for you. It's much better and cleaner to use that charging pad in the tray in the center console. Out of sight. In combination with the wireless Carplay dongle it is the perfect combination. This does not replace the OEM charger, but lays on top of existing one.
