Navigation - blank screen

Started the truck this morning and the NAV screen was completely blank. Could not get anything to appear regardless of which selections I made on the touchscreen. After about 5 minutes, got a message that said the Garmin system was not responding. Pulled into a parking lot, turned the truck off and then started it. NAV came up fine and worked after that. First issue I have seen with the unit.

I had that happen but only when it was in Android Auto. Unplugged and Re-plugged the phone and it started working again.
Re: Navigation - blank screen

Wow. Lots of issues with this head unit.

In my case, I cannot say for sure it was the head unit. It might have been Android Auto since all the standalone functions still worked. I would also add that this is the only time I have seen any issues with the head unit (if that was what it was).

I've had this happen only once, which was after a Honda dealership sold me and programmed for me a spare key. Shut it down, started it up, and it came back working fine. Basically, my guess is that if it runs into a glitch it reboots itself, but you have to turn the car off to get that to happen. I've got almost 5,000 miles on my truck and that was the only experience I've had.
Re: Navigation - blank screen

Yes, there was no way to reboot it without turning the ignition off as best I could tell. I tried various menus without any luck. When I restarted the truck the NAV was there quickly, as normal.
Re: Navigation - blank screen

I had the same problem -- just once in 1200 miles. Same solution, as well. I wasn't using a phone at the time.
Brand new 100 miles Ridgeline touchscreen is black, only working for reverse camera and turning right camera.
Push power button hundred times and nothing.
Already pull out and in again Fuse #29 RADIO 20 A, and still having the black screen. Not try yet to disconnect the battery. For some Pilot users I read that disconecting the battery worked. Very disappointed, my second day, and Honda Dealer closed for the next 7 days. Any help more than welcome!
Re: Touchscreen not working Ridgeline 2017

Just had this same failure two days ago Getting too common. Does yours start to boot and at about 4 seconds in with the the Honda logo on the screen it then goes black? One guy reported this on a FB group and they had to replace his whole unit. Took a week. Never in stock. I have 834 miles on mine, but 5 weeks old. If you have another dealer choice call them. Maybe you can see this Facebook video of the problem.

And I did everything you did. Also cannot get into developer/diagnostics screens either since the system never boots.

Yes exactly the same...Honda logo for 4 seconds and nothing after. Also the small display in the instruments panel do not show the compass window that it seems to be linked to the navigation system. 1 day new!!!!!! Unbelievable!

Sorry to hear of your problem. I have no advice to offer but am curious about why your dealer is closed for a week.

I also suspect the HVAC system is also slightly affected since there is a sunlight angle sensor on the dash that is tied to the GPS system coordinates. Also phone is useless as there is no phone connection since Bluetooth is not working. Pretty damn disappointing. I'm glad I do not have any trips planned and have other vehicles to use. Chrysler disappointed me way back in 1968 when a Barracuda I ordered turned out to be a bit of a lemon. I have never bought another Chrysler product since. (I know how to hold a grudge! ) This may be my first and last Honda 4 wheeler if this keeps up. Although I have enjoyed my Honda motorcycles over the years.

Honda Uruguay only official service in the country is closed all week due to Semana Santa Holiday.
Hope they can fix quickly the touchscreen problem next Monday 17...?
Only 3 or 5 Ridgeline G2 in the market.
Enjoy

Hello. Any update for your black touchscreen same problem? Here still with 100 miles, unmotivated to use a 65k (Uruguayan market price USD) without audio, telephone and navigation system. For my good luck, only Honda Service in the country is closed until Tuesday 18th.
Nothing new to report. Could not get a service appointment until Wednesday (APR 12) for diagnosis. I did drive mine today and all other systems seem to be working normally. Will post info after I know more. It would be another Easter miracle if they have a replacement unit sitting in inventory and it has to be swapped out.

UPDATE: After a 2 hour wait at the local Stealership they did not tell me anything I did not already know.......need to replace the head unit. Another week of "no shoes, no shirt, no service" ;-) No radio, no BT, no phone, no GPS, no Hondalink, etc.

What luck. Hope you can get it figured out! You'd think they would really do their QC before shipping it out to a foreign market.

Sorry to hear you're having this problem, my friend. On the bright side... you live in one of the most beautiful areas of the world, or at least in S.A. for that matter! I had the pleasure of visiting Montevideo and Punta del Este about 10 years ago and wow... what a beautiful area! Gorgeous women, too!

Good luck w/ getting this resolved next week!
Re: Touchscreen not working Ridgeline 2017

One question, why in the hell is dealer closed for seven days.

Sebastian is in Uruguay and he answered that several days ago - "Honda Uruguay only official service in the country is closed all week due to Semana Santa Holiday." = Holy Week.

BTW, Uruguay is in South America.

Spent a lot of time on the short bus did ya? Here ya go - you're never to old to learn, right? >:)

In the Paleozoic and Early Mesozoic eras, South America and Africa were connected in a landmass called Gondwana, as part of the supercontinent Pangaea. In the Albian, around 110 Ma, South America and Africa began to diverge along the southern Mid-Atlantic Ridge, giving rise to a landmass of Antarctica and South America. During the late Eocene, around 35 Ma, Antarctica and South America separated and South America became a massive, biologically rich island-continent. During approximately 30 million years, the biodiversity of South America was isolated from the rest of the world, leading to evolution of species within the continent.

In the last million years since the Late Miocene, South America became connected with the continent of North America via the Panama Block that closed the marine Bolivar Trough, leading to the Great American Interchange, the interchange of biota from both continents.

The first species discovered to have made the northward migration was Pliometanastes, a fossil ground sloth species, roughly the size of a modern black bear. Several migrations to the Southern Hemisphere were undertaken by tougher, North American mammal carnivores; fewer species migrated in the opposite direction from south to north. The result of the intrusion of North American fauna was that hundreds of South American species became extinct in a relatively short time and that about 60% of present-day South American mammals have evolved from North American species.[3] However, some species were able to adapt and spread into North America. Apart from Pliometanastes, during the Irvingtonian stage of the mammal land stages, around 1.9 Ma, species as Pampatherium, a giant armadillo, ground sloth Megatherium, giant anteater Myrmecophaga, a Neogene capybara (Hydrochoerus), Meizonyx, opossum Didelphis, and Mixotoxodon followed the route north.[4] The terror bird Titanis was the only discovered South American carnivore species who made the journey into North America.:laugh:>:)
