My rear drivers door wont unlock with either the key fob or manually lifting it up. The door has to be open to remove the door panel. I dont want to spend the big bucks to fix it if I can fix it myself.

Yeah, you might want to visit a body shop.

It is possible to get in there but it is difficult and risky.

Oh boy... that's frustrating. If you put the seat bottom up, you sould be able to reach all the actual screws that hold the door panel in place. From there, it would just be a matter of pulling on the panel to release the plastic pins that hold it in place. From there, you should at least be able to free the locking mechanism so you can open the door and continue diagnosing/fixing the main issue.
