Does anyone have any pics of what they look like? Is it just a section of the mirror at a different angle and it fits within the same housing? And is the negative battery cable removal necessary?

I have the same questions, especially if you removed the negative cable, seems if the ignition is off, there would be no power to the mirror. I know, they always tell you to pull the power, probably just to cover themselves.
