Finding part numbers for 2021-2023 door handles

I'm looking to swap out my chrome door handles to match the body color (Pacific Pewter) but having a hard time tracking down the right parts from the various Honda parts sites. I looked into door handle covers, wraps and I think for handles just replacing them is the right way to go for me.

Has anyone compiled this list before by chance? It looks like the color used to be called "Meteor Blast Metallic"...but even under that color I only find 2/8 parts I need. I don't find anything for Pacific Pewter.

Ex.
72181-TG7-A81ZQ
72141-TG7-A81ZQ

Found those main handles above, but not the rears, or any of the four caps. Also not sure if these are exact replacements for my 2023 RTL-E with the "smart" key features. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I am doing the same as you, except mine is a 2022 RTL-E in Obsidian Blue Pearl. You need to first verify that the paint code for YOUR color is NH862M as listed for the handle. Is Meteor Blast the same as Pacific Pewter??? You may want to talk toa dealer to find out.

I found that the online oem parts websites only show the oem parts diagrams through 2021 - I had to assume the parts were the same for my 2022. Try a site like
and you can find the handles and covers. There is a different page for the rears.

I did not buy from the above site, but gathered the part numbers and checked them on some other sites. I thought I would then buy from a local dealer, but they were just unbelievably expensive compared to online. I ended up ordering from group1autoparts.com - still waiting for the handles but they did email me and said they had to order them from honda and that they would let me know when they ship. I bought some parts for an Accord from them before without problems and they are mentioned somewhere else on this board so they seem legit - but, you never know anymore.

Let us know how you make out.

Hey thanks for the info. Been spending the last couple hours (instead of sleeping as I should) to try to track this down. Just placed the order a little while ago. I think I compiled it all correctly.

Turns out Pacific Pewter is the same color code as Meteor Blast. The tricky part was most of the sites only list the 2020 handles and say they don’t fit even the 2021, but cross checking the same part (ex 72184-T2A-A11YU) on another site does say it’s compatible with 2023.

I ordered from Hondaautomotiveparts.com. I’m going to call them in the morning to see if they can confirm. Wish they made it a little simpler…
Glad you got it figured out. Coincidentally, I got an email from group1 today telling me my parts have been shipped. Not looking forward to pulling off the interior door panels, especially the fronts, but hopefully it will be a "one-and-done". I did, however, install the lighted front and rear Honda door sills and Honda underbody puddle lights myself, so I do have a little experience pulling panels off ;).

For those with an Obsidian Blue Pearl, below is what I ordered (I sure hope I got all the part numbers correct  ). I ordered the black brow from the Black Edition and a local custom shop is going to wrap the window frames in black vinyl. So...... I will have about $875 invested in this project when all is done.

Awesome! Good luck. Let me know how it goes. I’ll be right behind you.

Also…thanks for giving me more ideas with the lighting. Ill check that out. I’ll expect my wife will be ready with more eye rolls and secretly planning her next purchase as a result :D

I did the front grill brow as well. Big difference. I got addicted after that. I can't stand the rest of the chrome now!

Here are my part numbers as well for anyone in the future:

There are some other threads with some information about actually replacing the handles, although I never bookmarked them so I am going to have to do some searching before mine get here. There is a youtube channel that has some pretty good diy videos at https://www.youtube.com/@DIYHonda . Specifically, they have one for pilot front
and rear
.

It is a little scary to pull apart a virtually brand new vehicle for something purely cosmetic. But I have always liked to make my vehicles "mine" and I keep them for at least 10 years, so it is worth it to me.

Yeah, my wife can't understand why I would want to change it, but she knows it is important to me. I am pretty old and had two-level lumbar spinal fusion surgery in June, 2022. The doc wouldn't let me do any bending for 3 months, so in the fall I used installing the lighted door sills and puddle lights installs as part of my "therapy" (both physical and mental).

I will post again when I get mine done with what I run into and hopefully you can do the same.

I got everything in today and finished replacing all the handles! I think it looks a lot better with the body color over the chrome. I’ll try to add some photos tomorrow in the light. Not sure if you’ve gotten to yours yet but a few notes:

  • Front doors both require door panel removal. Took me about 20 mins for the first door and 10 mins for the second. Once the panel is off I wasn’t sure how to access the interior metal part of the door to get access to the connector. It wasn’t exactly like the video. I used a plastic pry tool to gently detach the sticky material from the metal door itself hoping it would just stick back on afterwards (it did). I did this instead of cutting the material like In the video (didn’t see the same material to cut). Then there’s a black foam soundproofing material you move out of the way and you can reach the connector. I hope you don’t have huge hands, got small cuts on mine forcing both in at once.
  • The connector was tricky to get off the first time. The piece it connects into is wrapped in electrical tape, or at least mine. Both are mounted to a metal piece above which you can detach first with a simple pinch to let it hang more freely for easier access. Opposite the connector from the door handle there is a tab on the bottom (hard to see with electrical tape) that you push in to free the door handle wire connector…then just reverse the process.
  • Drivers side door handle also has a locking mechanism for the physical key entry. Have to disconnect that from the existing drivers side cap and attach to the new one.

Pretty easy overall I’d say once I got access past the sound/moisture barrier on the front doors.

^^^Thanks for the detailed info. Again, coincidentally, I am going to put my door handles on today. I have had them for a while, but it has been so cold here (northern Ohio) that I did not want to tackle it yet. Got 65F here yesterday so I did the brow (I screwed that up a little taking it off, but that is a post for a different thread) and plan to do the handles today.

There are always issues/pitas/tricks to any of this stuff and posts like yours and many other threads on this forum really help. The youtube videos are also great, but rarely to do you find ones for EXACTLY the vehicle and thing you are working on.

I will post some pics of mine when I get it done. It goes to the "wrap shop" on 04/06/23 to wrap the chrome door frames and that will complete it for me (I don't mind the chrome emblems on the rear).

Be sure to check the operation of the physical key now, before you find out later that it does not unlock the vehicle.

First thing I did after installing each handle after hearing some others having issues. Good call out.

Nice, goodluck on the handles!

I just attempted the window trim vinyl wrap myself…good call sending it in. It looks to be an art form that I just don’t possess. Throwing in the towel before I damage the seals. I just can’t get it to look clean with how tight the rubber seals are. Hoping to just live with them how they are. Handles were a big enough improvement for me (for now).

Sorry I did not post a reply sooner. Lots of things going on beside the Ridgeline, but I did want to wrap this up. Got it all done and I am VERY pleased. It just never looked right with the chrome on windows, door handles, and brow. I think the chrome is okay with the lighter body colors, but it was a no-go for me with the obsidian blue. I don't mind the chrome emblems on the tailgate, so I just left them as-is.

I bought the new brow and door handles and had a local tint/wrap shop wrap the windows. When they wrapped the windows they ended up with a very small gap on the bottom of the window trim towards the glass where the rubber is really part of the trim. They ended up using some sort of black sealant to fill it in (after they tried and tried and finally asked me it that would be okay). You really don't notice the sealant unless you look real close (like inches away).

I think I have about $850 in the whole project with me doing all of the labor except obviously the wrap.

The front door handles were a lot of work because I just don't like pulling on those inner panels - I am always afraid I am going to break something (although I didn't). The idea of using a plastic trim tool to push the "goo" that holds the inner front door liners to the metal of the door did not work well for me. It seemed to just "smoosh" it out of the way. I had better luck with the other door where I used a utility knife to just cut it as close to the metal as possible. Either way, the stuff is so sticky, that it stuck back to the door without issue.

Below are some photos with a couple before and several after (sorry it was dirty). I am not labeling them, but if anyone has questions just reply and I will help.
