First time using Remote starter and Heated steering wheel - LOVE EM!

My trim comes with remote starter and heated steering wheel, it's my first time using it since I got the truck. Man, it's AWESOME!!!! For those who are reading this and haven't got the truck yet, it's a must have if you park your truck outside and live in snowy area. I never had a car with heated steering wheel, it is now a must have item on my list for any future cars, that is the next best thing to heated seats!! Just wanna share my experience. Well, we got some light flurries.. it's a bit unusual for Snowtober

I haven't even put the snow tires on yet.

Does anyone know if you can get the heated steering wheel on while using remote start.

That would be nice, but no, manual says:

"The heated steering wheel is turned off every
time you start the engine, even if you turned it
on the last time you drove the vehicle."

I would guess the heated seats would come on if the switch is on, however. In that case set to low if you are going to run for very long before use since they auto off in high (I hate that they do that, BTW). Damn Lawyers.

Believe it or not, it DID automatically turn on the heated steering wheel when using remote start (only remote start, not normal start), I have tried it in 2 mornings already. It was WARM!!! But it has to be "cold enough", but not sure exactly the definition of that. Honda engineers put a lot of thoughts on everything include details like this (except there is no lock on tail gate!). On page 422 of the manual, see the screenshot.

Page 422 in owners manual Remote Engine Start. When it's hot out system turns on cooled seats and A/C. When cold it turns on heat,heated seats,heated steering wheel,heated mirrors and rear defroster

My DD has the heated wheel, first time for me (that's what she said). I can tell you the heated wheel is much more valuable to me than heated seats and if I had to pick one or the other, it would be the heated wheel. I don't even use the heated seats any longer.

Good news on the Ridgeline, they can add th heated wheel to your truck if you didn't buy the E or BE. It's an option you can buy.

I didn't think much of it when I got the truck, almost forgot about it.

Used it for the first time after working with some cold steel outside, have an entire new appreciation for it now!

Alaskan here, can confirm, steering wheel warms up with autostart. It auto adjusts the climate based off the outside temperature. Although the 60s are hot for me and I expected that it would cool it down, it had the opposite effect. But since we are 20's and 30's now, it's nice and toasty within about 5 minutes. Seldom have to run the full 10 minutes unless it's caked in ice.

I didn't even realized that...and we're neighbours !!:surprise::surprise:

Is cold for sure..but been checking for good weather to install my hard cover...( tomorrow or coming Tuesday is my only chance ! :crying::frown: )

Hey.. Yeah I am around 40 KM north of Toronto and I woke up very early to work (around 6 AM at that time) to capture those flurries

I think by the sun came out, they melted. Which hard cover did you get? and where did u get it? I ordered the Weather Tech liner from a local place, I am still waiting.....

I got 2 products from WeatherTech actually...

/ The windshield sunshade ( They did NOT compensates for the camera/sensor unit ( little squish there, no biggie ) :surprise:...But it will fit lower trims without the camera/sensor unit )

/ Their bump step...love it.

I've had Weathertech mats before with my other vehicles and they are great !! but somehow with the new RL...their website and lack of proper image/setup just turn me off (not knowing for sure the exact fit..lack of info is a turn off to me. ) ..Plus I have already bought the OEM mats prior to their announcement.

Another option for mats is the Husky brand...but there are posts with pics showing fitting defects! etc. :frown:

Glad you guys are enjoying these features I plan on getting the Black Edition so it will have them. I don't have a garage at my house the my Acura sits in the back yard. The Ridgeline sits outside at my sisters house but she has 2 car garage if heavy snow is expected she moves it inside but mainly stays out and she keeps junk in garage and old refrigerator for extra food stuff.
So when get 2nd Gen Ridgeline it will be out in the elements the remote start is also I will like. This is so I don't need to go outside just to start vehicle and return inside house while it's warming like to clear frost or snow from windshield on days that have them.
The heated steering wheel is a feature I would like to try my cousin was taking about it when we went to car show. He must of tried it out on some vehicle he has driven.

This is my second vehicle with heated steering wheel and yes I also would prefer it over heated seats by a long shot. Having both is the best of both worlds but I never really felt the need for the seat warmers. My ex girlfriend hated them and said it feels like you made in your pants. :surprise:

Grabbed a 2019 T model off the lot. no heated steering wheel. Had it installed Monday. never had one before. I am 67 now and on these cold mornings like today it was 8 degrees Fahrenheit at 5 this morning and now I know why people have these options. Same with heated seat, running out to truck carrying coat to a already warmed up truck is better then wearing heavy coat due to cold seats and gloves till wheel is not like steering with an ice tray out of the fridge is well worth it. Mirrors/wheel/seat/interior all warm when get in is great.

I thought this feature was sort of silly....until I walked to my car in the cold rain a few weeks ago. Hopped in and immediately warmed my hands and wondered how I'd ever lived without it!

Remote starter is great and easy to use.

Lights flash at night to show its activated but doesn't waste headlights.
Heats steering wheel.
I can't wait to try it in the summer..

I am really loving that option on my RTL-E. I found that my remote range is almost one city block yesterday. Did the remote start and she was comfy and ready to drive home. Just have to remember to press the brake and the start button else she dies when you shift from park.
