Headrests were down when I picked it up. Hole in the leather was cut too big. Dealer has ordered a new seat cover.

Can you push the plastic collar down? It should click into place, maybe the leather is okay
I don't know, that hole looks pretty big. I'm going to go check mine, they're probably all the way down too.

Hey that kind of stinks. Sorry.
I was kind of bummed to find it but as long as it isn't obvious that the cover has been replaced, I am fine with it.
I tried pushing it down but didn't want to force it since I wasn't sure whether it just snapped into place or if it was secured with a screw under the leather. Took it to the dealer and it was down when they brought the truck out to me. It looked fine but the hole shows itself if you put any pressure on the seatback. Dealer insisted on replacing it.
You may have stumbled onto an issue across the board. It's a bummer you have the issue but hopefully it's only on your truck.

I could see how this could go unnoticed for a long time by some owners.
Swapping that cover is an easy fix. It's not like the 80's where there are 1,000 hog rings stretching the cover tight. Mostly zippers and clips now. And the way that they stamp the grain into leather, the new hyde will be a near 100% match.

Incidentally, did you notice that Honda cut back on the leather for the G2? Not the quality of the hyde, but how much of the seat that's actually covered in genuine leather?

My 07, the leather is on the seating surfaces, including the outer sides of both front seats. It's also on all four sides of the front headrests. I noticed that on the G2, headrests are vinyl, as is every part of the seat cover that you're not touching when seated. Honda's way of saving a cow?
I checked my Ridgeline Thoroughly after I Read DSERVIT's post. Mine doesn't have this problem, so I don't think it's an across-the-board thing. But people should check it before buying.

The earth almost stopped spinning from the reverse torque on the earth.

Just 15 minutes ago, I was thinking I have not seen ONE complaint about the new ridgeline! I was surprised, considering the reports of issues and reduced quality reports that are floating around.

When the new GM Twins (Colorado and Canyon) came out, it was not long before HUGE issues stared hitting the forums. And VERY shortly after that, the fanboys started making excuses about that being expected with a new model and all vehicle have certain growing pains and it is a concentrated view point, being on the forums and blah blah blah.

Lets see if there is the same level of posts concerning problems. I bet not.

I think all the 2016 pilots were the beta test
There are currently about 2,500 Ridgelines listed on Cars.com. VINs for the newest listings are in the 6000s hinting that over 5,000 have been manufactured. If those numbers are anywhere near correct, around half of those produced so far have been sold. If 15 ROC members have bought 2017s, that represents 0.6% of those sold and 0.3% of those manufactured - a small, but random sample. If there were signifiant or consistent initial defects, I'd think we'd be seeing more reports of them here. I'd say so what little data on initial quality and fuel economy there is so far is encouraging. If production began May 6 and 5,000 have been made so far, HMA has been manufacturing about 90 Ridgelines per day (about 33,000 per year). I suspect more have been manufactured - possibly around 6,000 - 7,000 - that haven't hit dealer lots/listings just yet. There are still LOTS of early builds (the first few hundred) in the listings.

As an aside, 2016 Pilot inventory seem to be dwindling at dealers. For example, my local dealer has no 2016 Pilots in stock, but 5 Ridgelines (and hundreds of Accords, CR-Vs, Civics). This could mean:

2016 production is winding down for an early 2017, but that seems premature
2016 Pilots aren't selling well so dealers aren't ordering many
2016 Pilots are selling so well dealers are running out
2016 Pilot production yielded to 2017 Ridgeline production the last few months which has decreased supply

I'm guessing the last 2.

Did a quick search and we have 30 G2 members actively posting. Not too bad...

^^^^^^^^^ Nailed it!
For what its worth that is not a defect, its mass production and perfectly acceptable.

To all the 2017 RL buyers, look at the black rocker moldings on the truck especially on the forward part of the bed, As I dropped mine off at the dealer yesterday my wife and I were looking at the new models, she pointed out that the molding on the front of the bed seemed bent, I bent down to look at it and when I touched it, it fell off, I checked the one other that they had and the rocker molding was barely attached. 3 clips were broken.

Just checked my seats AND the Rocker Molding issue. I'm good at this end with my B.E.

I'm guessing that it's more like 30 as people come in and announce and then leave. And then there's the people who never post. Is there an easier way to count it than the obvious? Should we open a poll or something?

Add: sorry, JBGreen. Just saw you counted 30 yesterday morning. In that case were probably up to 35. I think as a community, we should be very interested in this number.
