I am older (over 65) so I needed comfort more than pure "truck" ability.
I am not older (in my 20's), and I still need comfort more than pure "truck" ability! I had a Dodge truck before my Ridgeline, and I wanted more utility. Ironically, the Dodge I had was RWD, so the AWD system in the RL is a HUGE step up! I don't rock crawl, and I have rarely towed anything. I like trails, camping, exploring, etc.. The RL is perfect with the utility it provides, and the day-to-day use is phenomenal. Tacoma was my runner-up before I got into the Ridgeline, but I could not stand the ride nor the high seating position. If I did more intense off-roading, it would be a no-brainer, but I needed a good vehicle for the 95% of how I use my truck. Yesterday, I filled the trunk and loaded up with 4x8 sheets of drywall. Much better than other midsized trucks to do that kind of work.
