8% Max Horsepower gain is solid for $285.. wonder if there's an aftermarket exhaust flow replacement?

Why would the intake change his exhaust sound? It will alter intake noise but exhaust sound??
G1 sounds different with an aftermarket intake, theres a video on youtube of a guy recording the difference in sound from the exhaust i would expect the G2 to be similar

If this increases my MPG by even 1mpg, then it should pay for itself within 7500 miles.

I like mods that pay for themselves so i pulled the trigger and have one on its way. :D

Can't wait to replace exhaust when that becomes available.

First off, the stock intake design on GenI and GenII Ridgelines gets its air from outside the engine compartment. Its already a cold air intake. Its not likely that you will get any gains from the "cold" part of the equation.

AEM's intake for the GenI gets rid of the air box but does not wall off the area to prevent hot air from entering. They don't have a Dyno chart for it and probably for good reason as it probably has a negative effect. If you want to hear your stock engine more on the GenI then by all means install an intake. The air box is not the limiting factor on the stock GenI intake setup, the throttle body is.

GenII? AEM's dyno chart for the 16 Pilot is well worthy of suspicion. It is HIGHLY UNLIKELY that the the low RPM results (and the apparent trend that the graph is showing below 3500rpm) is remotely accurate. Suggesting that the stock intake is leaving close to 10hp on the table at 3500 rpm should have anyone's BS meter going off. After 4k the graph shows a consistent gain of at least 6hp through a wide RPM that eventually grows at its high RPM peak. With no cold air advantage over the stock setup again the BS meter is going off. The engine progressively needs more air as the RPM's build yet somehow the stock airbox /filter is choking it consistently up until close to redline where it finally is starts to have an increased effect?? BS!
Are you claiming false advertising? If so then what they are doing is illegal and i suggest you take them to court over it if you have facts to back up your claims.

great cant wait to hear more about it

-Does the engine sound change much after install?
-How does the intake sound at 70mph+?
-Faster off the line?
-Do you notice more hp/tq in any ranges?

I was looking under the hood and it seems like it will section off air from around the engine and mostly draw from air coming under the vehicle, in which case a slight scoop on the underside could be attached to really draw more air up to the intake... cant wait to get mine tomorrow and start tinkering :)

Installed mine this morning, took it for a 15 min joy ride, first thought: WOW THAT SOUNDS AGGRESSIVE! I was blown away, I'm still smiling.

It has an obvious deeper grumble to it when accelerating than stock and when flooring it the VTEC on the top end suddenly gets VERY loud and sounds formidable to a NASCAR race, but only when flooring it :D

After i got by from my ride i quickly popped the hood and jumped out to feel if there was a difference in air between the closed off compartment where the intake is compared to the engine area and it was a VERY big difference, the air around the intake was cooler and close to outside temperature and then i put my hand on the other side of the heat shield it was MUCH warmer and i could feel heat radiating off from the engine but it wasn't getting near the intake so im very happy about that seeing as this was the whole point.

I didn't know this but there is an air scoop built into the front of the engine compartment and it funnels air into the stock system from the grill, the instructions said to put it back in after the install and the funnel end rests right up against the intake filter, perfect fit funneling cold air directly from the outside right into the AEM filter!

I couldn't be happier with this Cold Air Intake, it does its job better than I expected and makes the engine sound great. Makes driving that much more fun when you can hear the power from the engine.

Its a little louder but mostly a deeper loud grumble when accelerating normally from a stop sight to like 35 mph.

Its around 3x as loud as stock if you floor it and hit all the high ends VTEC sounds nuts haha

When just driving regularly at the speed limit its similar noise as stock nice and quiet, which is what i love about it. I thought there might be some noticeable whistle or intake noise but didn't notice any :)

10/10 Would buy again.

Looks like you took off the rubber end on the scoop funnel, i left mine on and it pushes up against the filter, not sure if i should take it off or not i thought maybe it will force the air right into the filter better vs. letting the air escape out and go around the filter.

Its hard to tell from pics but the kit does a good job of sealing off the area to mostly let air from the outside in through the scoop

After day 2, i am noticing some high pitch whistle every now and then at lower speeds while coasting but its not that loud and i dont notice it when i have music on

how much did that cost? id REALLY like to hear what it sounds like.. guess i will have to do it myself to find out :)

Also, did you notice any measurable MPG increase?

Anyone else get a very high pitch whistle at times? its not like a normal intake noise. Im wondering if leaving that rubber on the funnel from the scoop is causing it because its right up against the filter.

Anyone else hearing it?

i have a rubber cylindrical part left over after install i have no clue where it goes, everythings been working fine the past couple days though... :|

Are you saying it goes in that large hole in the arm coming off the heat shield that rests on top of the battery?

AEM 1-4007 is a wrap thats made for the filter to prevent water/dust particles from getting into the filter, anyone get one of these?

I'm thinking about getting one just to be safe, rained real hard the other day and made me wonder if water can get in through the grill scoop?

Also, I'm noticing a high pitch whistle at highway speeds when i have cruise control on, its annoying and i've never had intakes whistle all the time at constant highway speeds like that, only when accelerating. Anyone else have that?

I'm thinking i will:
- Possibly get the dryflow wrap to see if that helps
- Take off the filter and clean it
- Make sure none of the fins are bent and causing whistles
- Make sure the pipe clamps are tight

anyone else getting excessive whistle?

I did notice a couple bent filter ribs/fins when i unboxed the filter initially but didnt fix it so im thinking that might be causing it.
