Well said regarding the " 2 growl tones". Slight throaty sound in the middle rpm. I had a merging situation today where my choices were brake or floor it. I felt confident getting on the gas and the last 2k rpm sound awesome. If an aftermarket exhaust acts like the intake - normally quiet and loud when I want it - I'm in.
I won't be looking for exhaust...this is just the way I like it >:)

Now...Give me the combination of cover and tailgate lock and I promised ...NO MORE MODs !! >:):grin:

The cover don't scare me...but DIY lock does...I can't rip things apart and wiring !! :(

BTW..I forgot to add an important note regarding the intake !!

Using torque app to monitor ECT for VCMuzzler II..etc.

Before intake with Muzzler only -->> 165F at the hottest with RED.

AFTER intake ?? If I hooligan and GROWL... ECT temp actually fall 2-3 degrees !!! NO LIE ! ( 164 and seen 162 few times...after a few short stints ! )

I'm going to switch back to the BLUE ( intake's result & cold weather is approaching ;) )
It's a keeper !! :grin:

And..

The installation instructions must be for the pilot..because step (3G)...wire hardness tidying up ?? I have 1 less hardness than what the pic shown. :surprise: :|

The pic shows 2 fat harnesses and the thinner one at side of old air box...I only have 1 fat hardness and the side one ...:|:surprise:

So... after performed step 2J....I tidy it up with the fat one.

<confused> as why there's 1 less hardness on my BE though.

^^ I like this guy :p
BTW guys ....

What the heck does item #5 (VACUUM CAP, REDUCER .625-.190) on the list do ?? ( corner leg on the heatshield that sit on top of battery when done )

I originally had thought it was supposed to line up with the hole at bottom of the cold air scoop to enhance vacuum suction by blocking to create more air ...etc.. ( struggled and confused as why things didn't lined up ...and it seems to be made for the hole too...fits perfect when initial observed).
..Then I looked further and realized that there are more then 1 holes at the bottoms, so that was wrong assumption. :surprise::|

The way it is now.. it is just there to support and level up the air scoop ?...am I wrong ?? :surprise:
i have a rubber cylindrical part left over after install i have no clue where it goes, everythings been working fine the past couple days though... :|

Are you saying it goes in that large hole in the arm coming off the heat shield that rests on top of the battery?

Anyone else get a very high pitch whistle at times? its not like a normal intake noise. Im wondering if leaving that rubber on the funnel from the scoop is causing it because its right up against the filter.

Anyone else hearing it?

I would described it as...

After the GROWL... at the end...more like an added/needed suction...extra kick....it's kinda cool to me though.

WHOOOSHHH!!! LMAO !

It's better to leave the rubber ring on...I even kept the bottom entrance hole's rubber ring... and it's not sitting tight ( by design ? not the rubber ring but the entrance ...it was held down before by the stock air box...now it's just a wide open receiver
)...not going anywhere but if ever there is a rattle.....that could be one
( Just a thought. )

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say none of you have ever owned (maybe even driven) a Honda before? :surprise:
It's called VTEC

Not true. I had a prelude and a civic. I'm just more impressed with the intake on this truck than any of the other intakes I have installed on a few other vehicles.

Hard to describe with words but it's not the VTEC kicking in... It's like gulping in air and just needed extra volume it takes an extra gulp of air. >:)... But it doesn't happen every time though.

Yes... The pre-assembly picture placed that part there.

At the very least... It prop up the air scoop and hold it sturdy instead of potentially flopping around (plastic breaks over time) .. Etc.

I'm just teasing. I'm curious to know what it is though, if it's not vtec.

I'm going to be ordering my intake in the coming weeks, so hopefully I'll get to experience this sometime soon and report back!
It is hard to describe. It could be a few factors adding up... Factory intake was very restrictive, the new filter is right in front of the driver instead of by the ground in the front bumper , I'm used to hearing these on 4cyl engines, I haven't put one on for 10 years etc..
There's incoming through the front scoop..and there's exit hole straight down below...

The heat shield comes with heavy flexible rubber liner...when the hood closed...it's sealed off as an area on its own.

Between the sealed heat shield housing & the in and out of airflow...plus it's an OPEN filter..etc. There is a vortex of cooler air going on in there :nerd:...not just wide open hot engine circulating air..you see ?? :|:grin:>:)

Anyway...no matter how small a gain is... a gain is a gain...heck..The sound alone is worth the $$$ :wink:
Got it done guys !!

and it's love at 1st sound allover again ! :grin:

Low faint barely grumble ( but definitely throatier ) at all normal driving as was before...! but !!... >:)

The minute you punch that gas pedal...IT GROWL !!! ( in a good way ! >:) )

Just to mention...Hope others that have done this can back me up...etc.

There seems to be 2 growl tones...
a warm growl at medium gas pedal punch....and when punching pedal to the metal ( like hwy exit merging up speed ), a "higher wailing" tone is produced... Loving it ! :grin:

~~~ ran into a couple of hiccups..
part 2F was a PITA !! and the instruction never mention or pictured to put back the small "vent tube clamp"... they mentioned soap water when installing new supplied tube...but never mentioned about dislodging the original ( just about the small clamp which I forgot to put back on :p)
I might or might not use the clamp...it's already very secure .
Part 2G ? You guess it... just as I was about to remove the 2 retainer for the plastic screws, the car parked next to me is leaving..got distracted & lost the retainers...But...
Thinking outside the box I replace them with the OEM air box bracket retainers ( step 2J )..similar but not flush but the air scoop is not going anywhere :laugh:
So now, my 2G looks like 2J ..haha ! ( Pics later !! )
Then I placed a 2 mm thick 2 sided tape under that area ... it is now even more rigid than original..:grin:
Just did a few stints out in country roads and the growl is awesome ...NO after market exhaust for me...This is just the right amount of SweeeeeTT !!>:)
It also feels like the gas pedal just got more stiffness/punching oomph !! if that make any sense...rumble in the seat & rumble on the pedal feels.:grin:
Can you post a video of the sound???? Nobody has yet to post the sound of it.
I have a dash cam on the way...not promising anything. :grin:
Phone works but I don't like being distracted..etc. :wink:
Have you guys noticed any difference in mpg's yet?
Have you guys noticed any difference in mpg's yet?
Was averaging 18 before the swap, went down to 16 because it was such a blast to put your foot in it ( I did the exhaust too). Back to 18 for the past 2 weeks (mostly city driving).
I havn't noticed any change in MPG reported by the vehicle overall about the same average as before on highway cruise control, maybe a little less in town but i like to hear it growl more now.... hehe
The sound of the intake must not be that great, seeing as no one posted one video or audio clip of it. :frown:
