G2 running boards

Haven't seen the die cast before but they look tough. I've got the lighted running boards and they don't look as good (in my eyes).

I like the texture on the cast. If somehow it gets a chip or scrape it will be easy to touch up as well. I checked them out at the dealer this past weekend and ordered a set online. They show up Friday.

The one with chrome looks better with your trim. Just saying.

That's the way I'l leaning.

I got the die cast because I don't like chrome. Had them for several weeks and the only drawback is getting out of the vehicle. You have to make sure you step over them or they scrape the back of your leg

Yes. I have a 4 year old and 2 year old grandsons. They really need the running boards but I'm concerned these are too rough. Any bare skin (like a knee or shin) is going to be a pretty good scrape.

Those textured ones don't mix with shorts. After my test drive, I got in and out a dozen times checking stuff out. I scraped my calves so many times on those things! If I wanted running boards, I'd get the smooth ones. Just food for thought

It's a double edged sword (no pun intended). On the one hand the cheese grater texture will bite, on the other hand there's no way a passenger will ever slip in adverse weather conditions.

I made the switch to the non die-cast running boards and I'm very happy, for two reasons:
- at least for the E model, I think they look much better. Also, I had a gen 1 truck with the Honda running boards, and these are more streamlined. They look really good.
- more importantly, they are much safer. In the 48 hrs the die-cast were on my truck, I had already scraped my leg twice, and the Honda technician checking me in scraped her leg pretty badly. I have no doubt my two little grandsons would have drawn blood on the die-cast. I do appreciate that for some models, they will look good, but be very careful getting in and out if you have any exposed skin.

Holy crap they have slow workers. There are 12 easily accessible bolts holding it to the body. How many hours do they charge for an oil change?
That would even be inexcusable if they were the lighted ones.

I arrived at the dealer this morning at 7:25 and left at 9:15. They removed the die-cast, and installed the running boards with lights (I requested they upgrade me to the ones with lights, for my trouble, and split the upgrade cost with me... they said OK).

I will say the cast ones are darned tough. The FedEx monkeys tried their best to damage them in transit as evidenced by the torn up box but they arrived unscathed.

Anyone who have installed the Running Board on their RL2 (die cast/chrome/lighted....etc) know the ground clearance before and after the installed?

Technically no loss of ground clearance. The cast boards themselves are about an inch lower than the frame and the brackets hang down more than that. But the brackets at their lowest point aren't quite as low as the other stuff under the truck.
I suppose if I'm going over something large on one side only there would be a loss but in that case I'd rather hit the step than my rocker panel anyway.
