Headlight switch problem

I have done a search and it seems like I can find everything but what I need. For several months my dash lights would dim out during the day and I learned that by tapping the headlight switch they would come back on. No biggie. Today I went out to leave and turned the key and nothing happened. I was getting kind of the dead battery type twitter noise and I noticed the tach needle jumping a bit. I was just getting ready to jump it when I hit the light nob and then it started. When I got to where I was going I shut it down and tried it again, with no problems, then when I went to come home same thing. Except this time I started with the switch and discovered that unless the dash lights come on when I turn the key, it won't start. I hope this makes sense.

Thanx in advance.

I haven't heard of those specific issues, but my Headlight Switch was failing and when I'd start the truck, the lights would come on Dim, it I cycled it on & off, sometimes they would turn off. Then I discovered the "tapping the switch" and most of the time 2-3 taps and the dim lights would go off.

I replaced the switch & it hasn't returned.

There are some FSM pages posted on Switch removal, And I've read another person who would come out to a dead battery or dim running lights & it traced back to the switch. Replaced the switch & their issue was resolved

06 headlight switch replacement

Good Luck
Here's the replacement part:

Honda Automotive Parts

35260-SJC-A01ZA SWITCH ASSY., LIGHTING *NH526L* SATIN SILVER

It's in the $50-70 price range.

Replacing it isn't too hard. If I recall correctly, you lower the steering wheel (tilt all the way down) then starting at the bottom left of the panel, pull towards you to release the clips, working your way up and over towards the radio then down towards the A/C controls. Unplug the wiring harness to remove it from the vehicle. The headlight switch is held on with screws to the back of it.

I think the headlight switch issue and starting issue may be two separate things. How old is your battery? Weak batteries can cause all sorts of problems with these trucks. I would recommend replacing the switch first. As chip said, the switch is inexpensive and quite easy to replace yourself. If your starting issue is still present after that, you've got something else going on with a relay, starter, etc.

I just started having this problem on my 08 after it had sat waiting for the airbag recall. I noticed it was "sticking" and needed to tapped. I bought a new switch and hope it's fairly easy and straight forward.
I also have had a bad headlight switch for over a year. While driving, during the day I'll notice parking lights ON when the switch is in the off position. I tap it and they turn off. Hassle for sure... and just one of a dozen or so things defective on my 2007.
What else is defective on your 07? Just out of curiosity...
I am experiencing the same thing on a 07', only when its cold though, I was trying to figure it out what the problem could be since last winter..I was thinking it could have been my ignition switch the key has an electric smell to it when removed..But not to the point of having any other stuff going with start..Haven't had any other issues than that.. Great vehicle.
