Hidden Ridgeline in Stuck '14 Ford Raptor Fast Lane Truck Video

Just incase anyone skipped over this video...(spoiler alert) there is a Surprise Ridgeline that shows up...so it is not just a 1985 Chevy K10 against a 2014 Ford Raptor on Gold Mine Hill in Snow Video! :)

A person has to keep in mind that the RL is still using it's stock Firestone Tires (in outtakes at the end, too)...but still so impressive IMHO...and shows what Advanced AWD Systems can do! :)

Again, I find this so interesting how many folks with 4x4's do not realize that unless their truck has an advanced system or locking differentials and/or central locking differentials...that will actually send power to all 4 wheels that they will end up with (many times) one wheel spinning on the front and/or back (or both).

Just like watching the Portland News a few weeks back with our ice and snow we had...4x4 after 4x4 totally doing nothing but spinning 1 wheel...2 different guys got out of their respective trucks (1 a Dodge Dakota, the other a brand new Aluminum F-150 Ford) they both looked like they were going to shoot their trucks. I know for myself, I'll never forget how ticked (and ignorant) I was with our (at the time brand new) big bad '94 3/4 Ton Suburban w/454 stuck in Detroit Lake (not off roading or anything serious, NOT EVEN CLOSE). And there it was with 1 stinking wheel spinning with NONE of the the other wheels trying at all...it just dug itself in...then later totally destroyed the rear drum brakes because they got filled with fine gravel (I didn't know any better to check).

Enjoy! ;)

So, just watched the video. They admitted that the limitation was the tires. I wonder what that trip up the mountain would be like with proper tires.
I liked the video.

I guess they did this to rub tit in Roman's face because he is the reason why the Ridgeline did so poorly during the midsize truck off-road competition.

I also suspect that Honda was not happy with that initial comparison and they threatened TFL truck if they did not do several things to redeem it.

In a previous video, Andre (TFLT) took that stock RL BE to the top of Gold Mine Hill but without all that snow on the road. This time, Roman pointed out that the two big trucks broke a trail for the Ridgeline. So it's hard to know how far it would have made it on its own, let alone what it could do with winter or AT tires. I'd really like to see a front-lifted Truxxx or Jsport Chase RL with Nitto Terra Grapplers take on Gold Mine Hill in the winter.

Those tires have no meat to them. I agree with him, definitely the tires.
I liked the video.

TRUCK PORN!
I liked the video, but the Ridgeline stuff felt really forced. It didn't even come up the same way.

I really do wonder if they got a call from a Honda PR type.

Pete
If you really think about it, the whole thing was forced. The whole thing of comparing an old Chevy truck to the Raptor just made for good youtube. The end shows where the G2 got stuck and had to be winched out. They know the tires are a limiting factor. Also you can't help but notice that Nathan and Andre like the G2 but Roman stills does not seem very warm to the truck, I guess he must be a true truck type.
Ford is who looks pretty bad in this one. Their ultimate off road truck got stuck on a trail, not good. As far as the Ridgeline is concerned, it has more off road prowess than I will ever need and the the highest level of on road prowess possible. This is what the masses need and Honda tuned it this way to hit the biggest sweet spot. AT tires would probably help a lot on the trail. If you want to go rock crawling though, the Ridgeline is not the way to go.

There s a video out there by I think "everyman" driver or something like that, he took the truck to an atv off road park and let me tell you, I was impressed with what he did with it. I agree, that G2 will be more than we will ever need.
Roman always gets stuck. It's the driver, not the truck.

This might be the most moronic video ever.....Roman is clueless how to drive off-road.
Refer to owners manual to activate stuck mode when set to mud. I think it engages all four wheels.
