From last 3 week my Rl developed the problem of poping sound when coming from the rear area when I come of a ramp or driveway basically every time the truck body is subjected to bending stress. I felt like its the rear glass shifting and you made it clear for me I have appointment booked for Monday to drive the tech with me to check this issue out. I also hear a solenoid tick when the Rl shift gears after 20 m/hr some time loud some time faint. I am getting frustrated myself. I have black paint and have few spots which I ignored but now I am king of regretting buyng this vehicle. should have waited little longer may be. Mine was fist of the lot and lastly my passenger side rear quarter panel has a gap between the gasket and the paneel where the fake line is and the panel is sticking out if you look from the top dealer was unable to fix it.

My Accord and Ridgeline do this as well. If you look at the transmission it looks like there are 6 solenoids there.

Some advice, the real mind. It will be all uphill with a paid liar. And you probably won't get anywhere. Use all the things wrong against them and make them do you right. The paint....well how can I explain this....the paint & auto/body I use (friends with the owner) locally is the best around my metro. His work is so good that the Ferrari and Lambo dealerships use him. If a Ferrari or Lambo goes to the dealer for paint or bodywork, or both, they send it to my guy. And for everyone that uses him that isn't in the 1% with their "ballah" vehicles, his prices are good. Half his business is high end, half pedestrian vehicles, run of the mill.
I bought a hatch STi in November 2008. I found out I could get one for 4k under invoice so I did my negotiation all over the phone, it came down to two dealers and only one had my color/wheels combo I wanted. We get the deal done over the phone same day. Amazing too because I'd been following the car close that year but hadn't logged onto the STi forum for a month so all in one day when I found out about the discount. Anyways, I go sign papers and get the car. It was raining pretty hard that night, cold too. I drive home in flood conditions. As soon as it's light outside the next day I see bird sheet baked into the clear. That was on their lot where it happened because I drove it once, from the dealer to home in the rain. Like you, had to go back to the dealer and make some noise. They offer to fix it via their body shop they use, I refuse, and make more noise, insisting that it's going to my guy only, nobody is spraying my car but him, brand new. Took me talking to the GM to get that ok'd. Lot of bs. Anyways, my guy repaints the entire roof. When he is done it's better than the factory paint.
Sorry for the long winded story, but find the ace paint guy around you. Figure out where the nice stuff goes and get the areas you aren't happy with repainted and insist for proper blending. A good paint guy is gonna know what blending is. Damaged paint, you don't just fix that, deal has to be blended and done right. If you find the right guy the paint will be better than new. More attention detail compared to the busters in the paint booth in Alabama.
Then I'd be insisting you get the max warranty Honda offers for free. Turn a negative into a positive. 7, 8, or 10 year factory bumper to bumper warranty is worth its weight in gold for you personally, or if you sell it one day. It'll fetch more money. I'd also be eying some accessories on them as well. You won't get anywhere with a replacement with a liar but all this other stuff can be obtained. Good luck my friend. At full pop for a BE I'd be just as pissed as you, it's bs. That Lincoln Alabama plant has some real bad problems with Quality Control, real bad. And these problems with harnesses is bad part suppliers Honda is buying stuff through. And the trifecta on the deal is some poor assembly on the assembly line. I feel for you guys because it ain't right for new buyers to go through hell just to get their investment back to where it should have been when it was delivered to the dealer off the semi. I'd be livid. Stand your ground up there, insist on that much extended warranty, you deserve it.

I echo what TonyDeVito says. A reputable body shop that does quality work is over the top compared to robots going down an assembly line. My RL had to have the rear bumper cover replaced at 7 years old. The body shop replaced it, and sprayed it. It looks perfect, and a lifetime warranty. I assume any independent worth their reputation would do the same.
Also, I hate to reiterate as I've made this comment a few times in other threads, but when you buy a vehicle in the first year of production you are going to have these problems. Early adopters of first year vehicles just identify the problems that get fixed for us late adopters. My 2004 TITAN was a great example, so was the 2006 RL.

Man! I hate tearing a vehicle apart. I always wonder how many screws and fasteners were left over. Hell! I cant even get the dealer tech to put everything back when the do just an oil change. I changed the oil in my wifes car the other day after the dealer changed it last time. Two vacant holes. Two plastic retainers missing from the front engine shield.

Thanks this gives me a lit bit of relief but I have mentioned this question few time on forum and no one acknowledged that there RL does this so and Honda Tech on phone said its not a characteristic of this Tranny so I am still not sure about this

Am I correct in summary, that you scratched the paint using a crappy car wash which lead to a detailer discovering overspray that points to a repainted tailgate and you want a new tailgate from the dealer. Is that correct?
Modern factory paint is so thin (particularly the clear coat) it is scary. Unless the paint doesn't match I'd ask them to pay for a paint-shop of your choice to add a new layer of clear on the entire truck and then get it detailed to knock down the orange peel. You'll get a much better appearance and more clear paint to help restore future scratches. Perhaps the original damage to the tailgate was only to the clear coat then your tailgate has more mils of protection than the factory.
IF the color of the tailgate and the truck color doesn't match (color correction required) then go with your plan of getting a new tailgate.
Just my thoughts... good luck with everything.

Do NOT post threats to pursue legal action or details of an open case publicly on the internet! It's about the dumbest thing you can do. Rant all you want, but leave the legal issues out of it.
Part of my settlement with the manufacturer (not Honda) was that I could not publicly talk about the settlement. Over five years later, I still haven't posted the details of it on the internet, nor will I ever. Even if the agreement didn't hold water in court, I don't feel like having to pay an attorney to defend me. Making the manufacturer look bad on an internet forum, Facebook, etc isn't worth the risk to me.

I hope to get my truck back today so I can take it to the dealer that I purchased it from. I thought the swirls were from the car wash but as it turns out they are from the over spray more than the car wash. The swirls are one problem but there are also dust particles in the paint on the tailgate as well. Just worried about resale if a trained eye saw the problems.

Trying to understand what a new tailgate does vs just having a good repair shop repaint your existing one.
A new taligate comes primed and unpainted and has to be painted to match your truck. May be more successful in getting them to pay for a repaint rather than a new tailgate and painting it.

Didn't want a brand new truck with evidence of being painted. Tape lines and over spray are dead give aways that I am trying to avoid.

So I visited the dealer where I purchased my BE. I met with the sales manager and body shop manager. They saw the paint imperfections for the first time. Neither were convinced truck had been painted. As far as the over spray they acknowledged it was there but said it could have been caused by a number of things and not necessarily paint. They offered to fix the paint imperfections by sanding and buffing JUST the areas with imperfections. Body shop guy said he could fix them and they wouldn't be visible. After fixing them they would then do a full detail to get the swirl marks out of the paint followed by a proper waxing. That is option #1. Option #2 would be for me to pay $200 and get the car detailed by my guy and get Honda dollars back from corporate Honda. I could still take it to the body shop to get the imperfections fixed. At this point there isn't any further options unless I open a formal concern with corporate Honda. What is the opinion of the group?
My main concern was resale value of a vehicle that has been painted. That doesn't appear to be the case at this point.

And as for the popping noise from the supposed window being loose....I told local dealer NOT to put any silicone in the window gasket last Friday. Told them to put the truck back together so I could address with dealer I purchased it from. Funny how the popping noise appears to be gone now? I firmly believe the dealer that replaced my harnesses didn't tighten something when they put my truck back together. So for them to get paid by Honda for fixing their mistake they had to come up with a new problem. That's my opinion but I think it is more than just a coincidence that the noise is gone now.

I am leaning towards getting the dealer where I purchased to fix the paint imperfections and do the detail. I can always get my guy to do it again in the spring if necessary.

Your dealer seems to be a good one and is not trying to explain things away and get rid of you. It seems like you have a good relationship with them and they get you in and out quickly. Do you know if anything will show up on the carfax? I see used 2016 vehicles that say "body service performed" but don't show being in accidents which may be just for slight cosmetic work. The harness issue seems to be resolved and tested after you took it out to the beach. Hopefully the window is resolved too.
I'm a believer that the more hands that touch something the more screwed up it gets so if you keep it in the Honda family it may be easier for you if there are more issues.

There is no record anywhere of it being in any body shop so there is no way anything would show up on a car fax. My concern was tape marks or other ways of trained eyes to see it was painted. I am no expert so I don't know what I am looking for but my dealer didn't see any signs of it being painted.
