I suppose if they were guestimating 50,000 units for the model year (2006), they sold more that anticipated. If it was for 2005 only, they are a bit under.

Aloha,
Keoni
Don't know what these numbers on the RL mean but they just bumped production from 240 units per day to 300 or 330 per day as of april 1st :)
Could those numbers just indicate an improvement in efficiency of production of the vehicle? Just a guess on my part.
Could that just be that April 1st, was the start of Canadian sales? Maybe they sis that a few days a month could go into production the models for up there.

Honda set production for 240 a day so they could get 50k out the door this year...so with this production bump it means that they will build more than that this year. I've heard that we may hit 360 units per day. The two dealerships close to me up here in Canada have sold 10 and 20 units each already and canadian sales only started 2 days ago...even though people had them before easter.
I understood Honda wanted to sell 50,000 units/year. If that is the case and they sold 3,875 the first month, they will sell only 46,500 in a 12 month period.

Their first month or two will be the hottest months since it is brand new so it looks to me like they may be short for the year. No?
Think these numbers are a bit misleading...they probably only account for trucks actually sold and not just ordered...many dealers in canada have up to 10 month waiting lists ;)

It's normal to ramp up production. You aren't going to start out making as many as you can the 1st month. You'll do a little more each month until you reach your capacity.
At 50k for the first year and 3875 for the first month they almost met their quota. Once the advertising picks up more buyers, they won't have enough trucks. 4166 per month is all they could sell to have enough for 12 months. That is only a 7.5% increase to make it to 4166, should not be hard to do given the number of honda fans in the US.
Well the way I look at it is this...Honda sold every RL built so far with waiting list all over Canada and probably some parts of the US (with very little advertising so far). Right now we are building 330 units per day...so at an average of 20 days production per month for the rest of the year we will make about 60 000 in the next 9 months...add the 10 000 already built and we get a total of 70 000 units produced in 2005. (6600 units per month for the rest of the year, not 4200) ;)
So should we assume that when you say "we are building 330 units per day..." that you work at the Honda Canada factory where the trucks are built?
If you had been reading the forum for the last while you would have found this out a long time ago...so yes ;)
