Honda is recalling more than 330,000 vehicles because heating pads behind both side-view mirrors may not be bonded properly, which could lead to the mirror glass falling out and increase the risk of a crash.

Honda is recalling more than 330,000 vehicles because heating pads behind both side-view mirrors may not be bonded properly, which could lead to the mirror glass falling out and increase the risk of a crash.

Vehicles included in the recall are 2020-2022 Odyssey, 2020-2022 Passport, 2020-2021 Pilot and 2020-2021 Ridgeline.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that the vehicles don't comply with the necessary rear visibility requirements.

Honda dealers will replace the side-view mirrors on impacted vehicles free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be sent out on May 8. Vehicle owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.

A dealer had a 2020 Ridgeline listed and they removed the photos, curious, I clicked on the carfax and it said, stop sale. Some dealers adhere to this. Seems a bit overboard but maybe something could happen if the mirror fell off.
I had my driver's side mirror assembly replaced some time ago under warranty. The glass was shaking/vibrating at freeway speed enough that it was pretty useless. The dealer couldn't get just the glass so they replaced the whole assembly.

My 2021 RTL driver's side mirror does the same thing at highway speeds. Just haven't got around to getting it fixed. I need to go ahead and make a warranty claim in case I don't get a recall notice--this should make it easier to get it fixed without a hassle from the dealer.

I had the samething happen with my 2021 RL. Left side mirror seems ok. Also, had a little vibration that could be felt in arm rest. The dealer rebalanced all the tires/wheels under warranty. Everything is working smoothly now.

Somebody quick: make decals saying "This Honda owner is not responsible for items falling from the vehicle. Maintain a safe following distance."
I am pursuing a trade for a possible Colorado but the dealer just brought this up as a concern. They may not go thru with it since there is no timetable for parts.
I got a recall package from the Honda folks about the side view mirrors being defective. It appears that the adhesive that holds the mirrors in place could let go and the mirrors will fall out of the housing. I think it also has something to do with the defroster as well. Only certain year Honda models have this issue. Has anyone run into this problem yet? I have the 2020 RTL-E with no issues. It’s on the list. Thanks, everyone.
My '21 RTL, purchased in May of '21, had this issue with the driver's side view mirror glass. They suspected the adhesive attaching the mirror glass to its plate, was failing. They replaced it under warranty.
Others have reported the same.
My brother just reported the used RL he was picking up was jerked from inventory. Despite his earnest money the dealer had no date set for his sale.
Last year, I took the mirror off and used epoxy to reattach mirror to its frame/mount and snapped it back on..

Mine was replaced as well. However, at my last service they mentioned the mirror and said they would replace it again. Not sure if I'm going to do it or not. The issue I originally had with the driver side mirror no longer exists since they replaced it once already.
Got an oil change last week and tire rotation. While I was there they also did the stop/start recall and the service writer also said they would do the mirrors. Before the driver's side mirror was horribly shaky. Wish they had an option where the new motor glad included an integrated blind spot mirror.
I just got mine replaced yesterday and theyre ordering new mirrors again. I had the shakey mirror problem originally and they replaced the drivers one a month after purchasing the truck but replaced it again for this recall. The driver's side mirror now looks like a funhouse mirror with waves and distortion.

The dealership said it was a bad batch affecting the Mid-Atlantic states especially Virginia and Maryland. They've ordered new but can't even put the old one back because they break them. I'm still happy with the truck overall but a quality escape like this seems unusual for Honda.

Definitely check it before you leave the dealership.

BEWARE! I just had both my mirrors replaced at the dealer. The driver's side mirror came back distorted. I asked them to do it a 2nd time and the 2nd one came back distorted. Anyone else have this experience? I highly recommend not having the driver's side replaced if you are happy with the way it looks.

I had my driver's side mirror replaced several months back. The glass on the original one shook and they replaced it under warranty. It was on back order for a while. The last time I went in for service they told me they needed to replace both under this recall. I don't think I'm going to let them do that. Both mirrors work fine...if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

@NC Ridge, me too. My dealer said it was throughout the Mid-Atlantic states and said I'd have to live with it until Honda sends new mirrors. Amusingly, they never sent the customer satisfaction survey on this one. :p

DT, I'm with you, don't let them if your mirrors are good.

When my driver's side mirror was replaced by warranty, just after delivery, the first replacement was distorted, as well. Fortunately, the had ordered more, and were able to replace it again.

Both mirrors have been fine ever since. I think I'll pass on this recall, as well, until one breaks. 😂

"As of March 9, 2023, Honda has received 71 warranty claims related to the issue between May 2020 to October 2022, and no reports of injuries or deaths related to this issue."

71 / 330,318 = 0.02%

The odds are certainly in your favor. :)
