HubCapHaven - anyone have experience with them?

Hey all,

New member here. I recently purchased a 2010 RTL and I'd like to replace the stock 17" wheels. I did some searching on the forums here and I really like the look of the 18" sport wheels. In on of the threads I saw a link to HubCapHaven where they sell "OEM" sport wheels for $170 (includes shipping). See full disclaimer about their wheels below, but it's clear that these can be reconditioned, brand new "replicas" or new "takeoff" wheels. I would imagine I should stay away from replica wheels but I imagine the other two are ok as the strength should be OEM. Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions or feedback, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

About Our Wheels
Wheels/Rims are manufactured out of steel or aluminum (alloy) and are measured by the diameter of the tire they accept in combination with its width. For example, a 16x6 wheel will accept a 16 inch (R16) tire and will measure 6 inches wide from inside lip to inside lip. We offer wheels based on their original (Stock) applications. The wheels we offer may fit Make/Model/Years other than those shown; however we cannot instruct customers on fitment outside of the vehicles original configuration. If the wheel/rim on this page doesn't appear to be what you need, please Click Here to your navigate to your make/model vehicle and view all the wheels available for your model.
The majority of wheels we offer are (OEM) wheels, reconditioned to factory specifications. Depending on the rim, we may also offer brand new replicas, or new takeoff wheels. Unless requested via e-mail or phone, the customer may receive any one of these. Please Click Here for detailed information regarding our wheels. We offer a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee on all our wheels. As with all our products, we offer FREE SHIPPING on orders shipped within the contiguous U.S.
Please verify the wheel being purchased looks exactly like the wheel on your vehicle. If you are purchasing 4(four) wheels, please verify the wheels being purchased are appropriate for, and will fit your specific application. Because HH Auto staff cannot inspect the customer's vehicle, it is the responsibility of the customer to ensure the product that is being ordered will fit his/her vehicle. Please Click Here for detailed information regarding our policies.
Finally, there is often more than one wheel option for the same Make/Model/Year; however, the wheel design is seldom the same. Although we provide OEM part numbers and/or indents for reference, we sell wheels by visual identification. Do NOT purchase a wheel based on the part number(s) displayed, visually make sure the wheel pictured looks exactly like the wheel on your vehicle. If you are unsure of what to order, please contact us Toll Free, (877) 482-4283 or e-mail us using the link at the bottom of the page.

never buy a reconditioned wheel. The lacquer finish only lasts a few months.
After it peels off the wheel will look like crap. After that the wheel starts to pit.
I forgot to mention that you can clean and polish and spray wheels in your basement of your house and say it is factory reconditioned. Since it is your basement it is your reconditioning factory.
I would call these guys and see how much they would charge for a brand new wheel:

You can also get the standard 18" wheels and get them powder coated or plastidip them yourself to make them look like the sport wheel.
Thanks for the feedback. I definitely hear you that new OEM would be preferred, cost being ignored, but if done well (keyword: well), couldn't a refurbished wheel be just as nice as OEM.

Looks like to get an OEM sport wheel (part #42700-SJP-A41) it is $245.62 BernardiParts.com, Handa-accesorsies.com, hondapartscheap.com. That does not include shipping, yikes!

Here's what HubCapHaven says about their reconditioned wheels:

What to Expect with Reconditioned/Replica Wheels

The face of reconditioned wheel will look new when you get it. It has been stripped of all paint and clear coat down to raw metal, then machined, repainted or polished and then clear coated back to factory specifications using factory paint codes. The back and barrel of the wheels are finished with a durable powder coat.

There is a lifetime limited warranty on the finish and all wheels are guaranteed to be true, free from damage and balancable.

All wheels are tested and inspected for radial, rotary and side impact fatigue.

Ditto!

Or paint them. We've even got some good threads here on the ROC that show step by step how to do this. I linked to several in my trading post thread:

http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/25-trading-post/165761-18-g1-rtl-rims-wheels.html

And bigred, if you decide to tackle this yourself, I still have two new take-off rims for sale. If you are in DC, then I am just across the river and it would be easy to hand these off to you. Cheers and Welcome to the ROC!
Yeah, I have seen some of those posts. If I already had the 18s or I could get 18s on the cheap, I would look to go that route, but wanted to first see if I could go direct to the Sport 18s. What's your price ISO for the 2 you have remaining?

I sent you a Private Message. Thanks!
I've purchased two wheels from Hubcap Haven for my 2007 Toyota Highlander. They replaced two wheels that were corroded horribly around the bead by PA road brine and would lose 1-2 psi per day. One has been on for about 14 months, the other 5 months. They made it through this winter still looking like brand new and are holding air like champs. I went the refurb route because I couldn't see investing in a set of 4 new wheels for a 10 year old vehicle with 110,000 miles that's either going to get traded in or handed down to my kid in the near future.

Any update on this?

I'd like to find a set of OEM Sport wheels, but it would have to be at the right price.

I plasti-dipped my wheels, and they look good..........but I still like the Sport wheels.

I went ahead and attempted to purchase via HCH, but they only had 1 sport wheel in stock. Instead, I purchased via ebay via seller upgradeyourauto. The seller had great feedback which put me at ease. I ended up paying $750 (including shipping) for 4 wheels. They appear to be a middleman. They called me and said the 4 wheels they had had to be thrown away because they weren't up to quality standards, which I appreciated, they then told me they would contact some other wheel repair people to see if they could find some. They called me back 30min later saying they had found some. They were shipped in a few days. I thought they were in AMAZING shape - I would have been hard pressed to say they were not brand new OEMs. I was very happy w/ the quality. The actual wheel repair shop that sent them to me was:Ed Wolf , Chicago Wheel Service, 855 Bonnie Lane, Elk Grove Village, IL.

As far as the price, when I purchased it was 200/per with a $50 discount if you bought 4.

It's real easy to spend another persons money, so I say "go for it".

As for me ... on a 7 year old buggy I'd either accept what's on it or look to a cheap aftermarket wheel.

Long ago I purchased some similar/ no-names ones for my (donated) daughters 4 year old CRV - from The Tire Rack. The originals are still in my garage attic - if you pay shipping they are all yours.

Those look great, just like new.
