I read in the September issue of an auto magazine (Motor Trend ?) that Honda is developing a hybrid engine for the Ridgeline to be available in 2009.

I hope this engine will use a 6 cylinder version enhanced with electric power and other technology to improve fuel efficiency, power, acceleration. This would provide V8 like performance with improved V6 fuel economy (~30 MPG).

I think this effort shows Honda's confidence in their SUT and their plan to keep the Ridgeline around.

Every one that I rave about the Ridgeline to I tell them, the only way I would get rid of this Ridgeline is if they come out with a Hybrid. I am hoping that Honda does make one sooner rather than later.

I would guess they will use the technology used in their current hybrids. Turn of some of the cylinder in cruise situations. Actually, an electric motor to boost off the line torque would be great.

Ditto. I would love to get a Hybrid Ridgeline... and hope it is a real hybrid, not that stuff that GM did with the Silverado. I think it increased the gas mileage by 1-2 mpg and increased the price by a couple thousand.

If they don't come out with a Hybrid RL, the plan is to drive the wheels off of this one :)

This is already being discussed in several threads. The first link has a screen cap of the Motortrend blurb about the hybrid and the possibility of a V6 turbodiesel (biodiesel here I come :D )

Here are the links:

I will close this thread down so please continue this discussion in one of the above referenced threads (the 1st one would probably be the best IMHO).
