I do race timing (5K, 10K, etc.) on the weekends and I'm hoping the bed audio is loud and clear enough to play music at the finish line.
Um, not a chance. You might actually kill any motivation runners have at the finish playing the music too quietly.

Why not restrict the poll to people who actually have the exciters? And for those who'd rather have option A or option B. That's not the question. I enjoy mine. Nothing earth shattering. There are better and worse features. But it's a clever idea and useful. And it's interesting enough to have folks talking about it. Good marketing.

I have to eat crow.

I started this thread originally to bitch about the stupid exciters. Having lived with the truck for the past 2-1/2 months I have learned to kind of like the exciters. I've used them a half dozen times. ?

I don't have much use for them in the winter but working in the driveway or the front of the house, camping, hanging out and other things I can do in the vicinity of the truck, I'll use them. I wonder what it sounds like with the tonneau cover open just a little bit - maybe a little more bass?

My E supposedly will be built this week. The bed speakers are the one option that I highly doubt I'll ever use. At 65 years old,,, my tail-gate parties are part of ancient history, lol. So unless I'm with like minded friends who share my love for 50s and early 60s music (which is all I listen to as you might figure by my signature picture) the speakers in the tail-gate will never be used.

My Uncle is very good friends with Jerry Lee Lewis. Whenever Jerry came here to play I'd get to sit onstage (out of the way), drink beer with his band in the motor home, etc. So you owe it to Jerry, to take a day every now and then, and manually wash your truck (DIY), and while you are washing it in the driveway, crank Breathless up as loud as it will go via the inbed speakers, and try to piss the neighbors off. Jerry would want that >:)

LOVE THE IDEA!!!!

I hope you realize how lucky you were! IMHO,, Jerry Lee was the "TRUE" King of Rock-n-Roll! I never had the pleasure of meeting Jerry Lee Lewis, but I did meet Chuck Berry at a concert on Long Island quite a few years ago. What a great guy and completely devoted to his fans! :act035:

I've met Jerry many times over about a 20 year span. My uncle is the lucky one. He has played piano with him (BANGING on the keys), hung out at his house I don't know how many times, they are close. Any time Jerry plays here or the surrounding states, my Uncle walks him on and off stage. Plenty of stuff I wish I could say but can't. Some great stories over the years that I can't repeat online. Glad there are people that still respect him. He is highly regarded in our family.

I was in music, professionally (different music genre entirely), for 20 years, mom was a singer, Uncle a Piano Player, great Uncle piano player and singer. Strange how things work out. DNA I guess.

So as not to hijack this thread, I sent you a PM.

I'm on my second RL (2017T & 2019E). I chose em for the ride comfort and the overall functionality/utility and the E for the Honda Sensing Suite (lowered my insurance). My wife loves the ride comfort. I pull a small boat. I carry plywood. I carry tools in the trunk. I installed a tailgate lock and an affordable roll-up bed cover (from the 2017). I had the roofrack and CD player swapped from the 2017 to the 2019. The RL is NOT a truck. It is a specialty utility vehicle that competes favorable with small trucks and is superior to nearly all in the eyes of most.

I realize this thread is way old but it keeps showing up in my "recommended reading", so...

The In-Bed Exciters (IBEs) are a fantastic idea, poll responders are wrong, topic closed :p

Seriously, what kind of person has a problem with the ability to pump high-quality music out the back end of a pickup? Wouldn't ever have been my primary factor in selecting the RTL-E trim but for a feature so frequently panned as a "gimmick" I use it all the time. Comes in handy while loading / unloading. Back it up to the deck and rock out while grilling. Drive it out to the back forty and pump tunes for the bonfire. Feeling a little bit too disconnected from civilization while car camping out in the boondocks? Get your cable news or talk-radio fix via satellite radio while getting the fire going for your morning coffee. Drown out the abysmal corporate music at the gas pump. Blast out Van Halen while on a low-speed cruise along the boardwalk - could also come in handy running a soundtrack as a parade float tow vehicle! Good times. ?

A quick response, regarding my RTL-E. The only time the bed speakers were used was when I first picked up the truck. The salesman went through all the features, including the bed speakers. I've never used them and probably never will. I'm not saying that others who enjoy them are wrong. Different strokes for different folks.
