I've read lots of posts and performed searches in the past regarding adapters to be used with my iPhone4. Haven't been here in awhile and I know there are many many choices.

Thought I'd ask for advice on the latest (Best?) choice for my application (iPhone4)?

It'd be nice to use the steering wheel controls for music but not totally necessary..

I just installed an iSimple in my Ridge today. Works great with control from the steering wheel and posts song/artist information to the stock head unit. I plan to use it mainly with my iPhone 4 but it does include an aux adapter with a headphone and RCA connectors.

Plus the price I found here really sold me.

GNOME. Does that Isimple charge your iPhone4 as well? I must have looked at about 10 models using search and was hoping to spend under 100

I use the iSimple and it's awesome. Mine didn't charge the iPhone4 (early model) I heard that they have fixed that...but I already bought a scorche adapter so I didn't bother with getting the new cable that does charge the iphone4.

You won't be disappointed, and you should be able to install in less than 30 minutes if you read the instructions first.

I've had my iSimple running for a couple days now and I have to say I love it. Control from the steering wheel and display of song/artist information on the factory radio really round out the functionality. Charging occurs regardless of ignition position. Now if I could just control Pandora...

I tried to get a Grom Audio adapter running a few months ago with no luck. After a couple rounds with their support group and a firmware update I ended up returning it. I could get audio but steering wheel control and text display would not work. Kind of sucks, they were really responsive. Just couldn't get it to work as advertised.

There is a bluetooth add-on for the iSimple Media Gateway. I don't have any experience with it yet. I might add it later but have more pressing needs to get my sub back in the truck.

Hey Gnome. I love Pandora as well. Is there a way to use Pandora with this Isimple adapter?

yes, as long as you have the pandora app on your iphone, ipad(3g) you can listen to Pandora or any sound from your iDevice through your vehicle sound system(while charging your iDevice).

As for controlling the Pandora app with your buttons on the steering wheel or radio buttons....That would be a no. I believe it will automatically close your pandora app and open the iPod app when you use those buttons.

I have the isimple in my RL and I am able to switch songs in slacker(better than pandora imo) on my iphone 4 with my radio or steering wheel controls.

see I stand corrected. I will have to try the pandora app again. It didn't work in the past, but some updates to the app may have changed that. Well we know slacker works anyway.

Are there any major differences or reasons to go with the USA SPEC versus the Isimple? I searched in the USA SPEC and it seems that you can control the unit with IPOD or DIRECT mode. IPOD allows control from the radio/steering-wheel while DIRECT mode allows full control from the ipod/iphone which WOULD allow Pandora to work.

I'm guessing the Isimple doesn't operate the same way as the USA SPEC?

It sounds like it works similar. In IPOD mode you can control the ipod portion of the iphone, in AUX 1 mode you can can control the Slacker/Pandora app. Aux 2 is the Aux 3.5 mm jack, in case you have something besides an iphone. It also doesn't effect the XM radio operation if you have it also

I had both models installed and both worked great, but I noticed my battery kept dying if I left my truck in the garage over the weekend with the Isimple. I did notice that my iphone will still be charging even with the key off the ignition. Switched it with USA SPEC and haven't had that issue. I really miss my HD RAdio with the Isimple though.

Only thing That kept me from pulling the trigger on an iSimple (well besides the price) was that it seems you have to have your deck in XM mode if you want to receive calls which is odd if you want to listen to the radio or another source. I ended up buying a double din JVC deck for less. Have yet to install it but the Kenwood I have works well for BT streaming and calls.

Sounds like a great idea, but what if you only have the AUX button instead of a XM button?????
