Hi everyone this is my first post hopefully I'm doing it right. Just bought a 2012 Honda ridgeline and love it! Purchased it about a month ago and have noticed a little jingling /rattling on cold start and faintly while driving at certain rpms... Any thoughts? I'm going to try to attach a short video to demonstrate.... Any comments /suggestions? There is 116,000km on it...

Thanks
Joe

Check to see if the heat shields on the cat converters rattle. Check if the welds on them have corroded and broken. Check the heat shield underneath the truck to see if stones have accumulated between the shield and converter.

Check to see if the clip that holds the windshield washer bottle to the inner fender is broken.
FYI.....

(Taken from another thread)

When Honda changed the engine and transmission in 09, there were no common mechanical defects reported that I've ever read or experienced. However, there is one mechanical problem that exists across all of the Gen1 engines, it's a leaky rubber stopper in the Camshaft lubrication solenoid. When it's cold and the vehicle has been sitting, the lubricant drains out of the solenoid so when the engine starts up, you get a quick screeching sound, but it only lasts a second until the lubricants get pumped back into the solenoid. Not all RL engines have this problem but it is common.
Thanks for the reply guys, I actually took the truck in to the dealership yesterday and they kept it over night (for a cold start), they said its normal....
I was given a 2011 pilot loner that made a similar noise....

I have tried to upload a YouTube clip, hopefully it works...
Let me know what you guys think?

It sounds to me like it could be the emissions purge solenoid. They can make a sound like this when they open. I can't say that I've noticed it on my 2009 Ridgeline, but I used to hear it on my 2008 CR-V.
I'm starting to hear this jingling while accelerating under load. No sound in park or neutral while reving the engine. This is driving me nuts any suggestions???
