Just purchased

After three weeks of vacilating on whether I should get the Ridgeline now vs later this year, I finally gave in and purchased the truck yesterday :D . I shopped at only one dealer. I have been with this dealer/salesman since 1989 and have purchased five vehicles from him over the years ('90 Civic LX; '92 Accord EX; '98 Accord EX; 2000 Accord EX-L; 2003 Accord EX-L) plus I have referred numerous family and friends to him - he is THAT above board as a salesman, AND he doesn't play games (with me at least).

This truck is replacing a 1999 Dodge Dakota SLT club cab that will not transport my new born baby (otherwise I wouldn't be in the market). I NEED a truck for the convenience and the Ridgeline fits my needs perfectly - plus when I test drove the thing I was hooked!

I got the RTL S/R at straight invoice plus destination with rear mud guards and the chrome bumper trim for a total of $30,330. No gimmicks, no games. Now all I'll have to do is get used to the conspicuous nature of the truck (everybody stares  ).

Congratulations on your new truck and that great deal. You will find a wealth of info on this site and we all look forward to your contributions.
I can definitely hear you on the stare factor. I was at Costco today (2 days after getting my truck), and a guy was in the parking lot, he looked at my truck as he walked past once, walked back past again and didn't take his eyes off it. He then stood at the back of his car staring at me while I backed out, and pulled forward past his car. Last thing I saw in the rear view mirror as I turned out of the lot he was still looking. I almost stopped and asked him what he thought, but I thought that might be a little pretentious so I avoided it.

Of course a bright red truck is going to get a few glances even if it isn't special. This is only my second red vehicle ever, the first was a Chevy Berretta in which almost every driver but myself got a speeding ticket. I am hoping I can keep up that type of record and not get a ticket in this, but it rides so smooth I find myself going faster than I think before noticing it.

Ain't no such thing as keeping a low profile in this baby. Oh well...
Lotisb - I too traded a '99 Dakota SLT for my Ridge. They gave me like $6500 on the trade in. What did you get for it just out of curiosity?

I didn't trade. They lowballed me at $3500 and I told the manager to forget it. I sold it privately today for $5500. It is a 5 speed with 115k miles.
I really thought the rubber necking thing was a little exaggerated until I was driving from Albuquerque to Santa Fe ( I live in Taos and had driven to Albuquerque to have a body shop check out my hail damage) and this guy keeps up with me (75, 80, 85, 70, etc) then passes me, pulls in front and then slows down a bit down the road so I pass him etc. This goes on for about 15 miles until I pull off to gas up and he follows me off and then parks and walks over and starts talking about the truck.

Of course, I show him all the neat stuff (trunk - very large and nice interior, etc) and we talk about the different models, yada yada yada and whatever and I thought he would never leave. Nice guy and is in the market for a pickup but it has to carry his new Honda 1200. I said I didn't know about that but gave him this site and said to check it out.

Nice truck. I sure do like it. The trunk in the bed has got to be my most used item on this truck - a place for everything and everything in its place :p

I've taken all of the tags off the tailgate...............Hopefully this will deter people away from asking me about the truck when I'm getting gas & such...............It's getting old................

I de-badged my tailgate also. It doesn't help. Still get tourists.
Congrats Lotisb, enjoy this great truck and look forward to hearing more from you!
