LED Hood Light Strip

I saw an ad for the Silverholder hood light strip and decided to try it out. I bought the dynamic white one that zig zags across the front before fully lighting. The strip was easy to install and looks good but there are zero instructions included. The trick is to locate a switched power source…all of the fuses tested hot when the truck was turned off so I tied it into the driver’s side headlight. I may have also been able to connect it to one of the relays in the fuse box. It looks good with my LED fog lights. Sorry for the crappy pictures.

What does the strip look like in the daylight when not lit up? Just trying to get a sense of how well it blends in with the hood.

I am assuming this is the product the OP is discussing. Seems like if you put it under the hood you wouldn't be able to see it unless you turned your headlights on?

It isn’t noticeable as it sits between the hood and the headlights/chrome below.

See my other response.
In for a daytime pic with the lights off.
So for the electrical guys out there - If I were to buy a fuse tap - tap that into the 10A Left/Head light fuse - would you use a 5A or 10A fuse with the tap for the LED kit? Also, maybe I am blind but the DRL fuse isn't in the engine fuse boxes on a 22 correct?

If there is a better way to do this let me know, I am just brainstorming. Thanks!

Exactly the picture I was looking for. Thank you.
ram031961 - As an official "old crotchety guy" who scoffs at adding a bunch of silly lights to a vehicle, I gotta admit - I like this! It looks great at night and looks great turned off during the day. Nice!

Anyone willing to help with some advice to this electrical dummy?

Tried to call them but the number on their website is disconnected.

On my 20, the DRL fuse is under the dash. If memory serves, its fuse 22.

Regarding your fuse question, I never liked using those fuse taps. That said, I know lots of people had great success with them so there's that. If you insist on using a fuse tap, the original fuse goes into the "empty" socket directly over the original socket and the fuse for your accessory, the LED strip in this case, goes in the spot closest to the wire lead. If your accessory comes with a 10A fuse, that's what you use. Use the appropriate fuse for the use case.

Thank you - if you were to do it not using a fuse tap, how exactly would you hook it up to your DRLs? Just curious and trying to learn different avenues. Just went out and looked at it is fuse location 21. How would I run a wire from the engine bay into that area where the fuse box is inside the vehicle?

I wasn't too far off with which fuse it was. 😂

The way I'd do it would require doing things people aren't comfortable doing to their newish $45K vehicle. Part of those things may or may not involve sacrificing a goat. As I said before, lots of people had success with those fuse taps so you should be fine going that route.

Picture of it mounted to the with the hood open pls! I would love to light up the inside of my 22 grille, like the bmw offers. It would look really mean on the new grilles.

This is slick. Nice work. Do you have the LED headlights or halogen? If LED I wonder how it’d look on all of our plebeian RTL/sport trims...!
Was thinking the shorter strips might be an easy way so simulate the eyebrow DRLs on trims without them.
