I have a line on an 2011 RTL with 62K miles to replace my 06 RTS. It was a fleet vehicle which worries me a bit. Of more concern, I noted the milage calculator on the dash was reporting about 5-7MPG. Is this the reset value after changing the battery or does it indicate some messing around with the odometer in general?

The trip computer must be manually reset. Each time it is manually reset or the battery is disconnected, it will show "--.-" MPG until you start moving. Once you start moving it will display the average fuel economy since the last reset once it rises above 0 MPG. With a reading that low, that just means the vehicle has been idling more than it has been moving sine the last reset (whether that was a few minutes ago or never). Your observation should be of no concern.
