The dealer which has not given me any reason to dislike them has 13 "in stock", with 7 on the lot. The ones that have been sitting around are getting discounted. Their MSRP's are higher than listed at Honda, but their "sale" is still lower.

Then the dealer that is super shady has 37 "in stock", with seemingly 22 on the lot, with a plethora of RTLs in lots of colors to choose from. I say super shady, because all our interactions have been less than stellar... and a coworker of mine got totally taken when buying his CRV there. He's a hard working honest guy and they just milked him dry. He was happy so I didn't bust his bubble, but he ended up buying at least 7k worth of "extras" such as accessories (floor mat, cargo net), extended warranty, a dealer service/maintenance plan, windshield replacement/protection plan, paint plan... I asked why he went there and he said it was because they had the most vehicles listed in stock on line. His 2000s era Impala blew a head gasket and as a single car family of 4, they wanted a reliable ride, so he took a taxi to the dealer. They saw him coming and knew he would leave with something.

Now if looking at hybrids, good luck with finding any of those around here!

Yes, my dealer in Burlington keeps emailing me to bring mine in to trade in to a new 2023. (I wonder why, since I only get a volume knob on the radio as an upgrade from 2020).

If the advertisement states MSRP, they should be able to back that with the window sticker. If there are add-on's, they should be itemized in addition to MSRP. The MSRP should match the suggested price by Honda at the time of production. MSRP can change during a model year, but the MSRP must be that when the vehice was produced as stated on the window sticker.

If a dealer forces add-on's, walk away.

But all still appear to be in excess of $40,000 by the time all is said and done? :(
Bill
We figure add 10% minimum to the final sales price at our location. Back in 2016, we paid like ~3500 in taxes/registration, for a final 36k out the door price. Sticker MSRP was ~36k at the time, up and down I5 in WA/OR, if you could even find one on the lot to view. If we were in the market at this time, we would try the whole, "I'll take that red RTL off your hands for 39k out the door" offer. lol. Worst they could say is NO. I mean, when we tried a lowball offer at a dealership once, the manager ran out and literally said no no no no, told the sales person that was helping us to not waste their time, and basically shooed us away. LOL

@njamesj Yeah, those window stickers often tell a whole different story vs what you see online. When we car hunt, we look for vehicles that have nothing added, which is often quite rare. It is insane how some "final prices" at the bottom of the window sticker are 10+k over the MSRP at the top of the window sticker! I swear Ford is one of the worst for that kind of game. A 40k Maverick? Uh yeah... And that's after they have recently dropped the 5k COVID demand up-charge.

Sorry Bill, but I don't think you'll see 2019 prices on any new trucks anymore.
The MSRP's stated in the advertisement by @silkiechicken do not look out of line. The window sticker (MSRP) for my 2017 RTL-E was $42,410. The comparable RTL-E's shown at $46,420 is only 9.45% higher for 2023's, six model years newer.

Agreed. And the MSRP between a 2019 RTL and a 2023 RTL is around $8k. Given the double-digit inflation, that's not out of line.

@Chequegdl The "deal" one can get can be quite regional, based on the local supply and demand, and the need for the particular dealer to unload vehicles. That said, 41k for an RTL-E sounds pretty good to me at least. You can see what others have paid in the following thread:
Actual prices paid ONLY - comments will be deleted

@njamesj @longboat 9.45% higher in 6 years is a whole lot less than seemingly most other things.

Edit: Better than the 89% increase in median home price, 66% increase in orchard grass hay bales, and 73% increase in chicken feed, in WA, in that same time frame.

Should be interesting to see what happens. Is everyone waiting for the new trucks to come out? Will folks buy these Ridgelines with their tax refunds in the spring? Has the recession finally defeated the consumer? Are dealers just playing games and still adding on crap to offset the discount?

I wanna see someone get a Sport for under 40k OTD.

I feel like that could be totally possible... even perhaps and RTL for 40k OTD in some place like Oregon, where they don't have the huge sales/transportation taxes and low registration fees. .

I'd have to actually stop by the dealer to look at the window sticker on some of those "low" prices to see what kinds of add ons are on top of the internet shown prices.

You're right, an RTL for 40k and a Sport for less than 37.5k. I think I paid 35k for an RTS in 2016. In my neck of the woods a 37k negotiated price plus tax (7%) and tags would come in just shy of 40k. It seems like this is possible if these units continue to sit.

Yeah the local dealer has 15 squirreled away and I walk by a handful of them on an overflow lot every week. Huge 5k discounts on the website. They will not send an out the door price. “You have to come in.” I badgered the young sales rep and he said that there are added options that will affect the final price. I have looked at the ones on the overflow lot carefully and there are no packages, special floor mats, or decals added. I know one thing they add is Lo Jack. I am sure there are other things like etching, dealer prep, and sanitizing added too.

I stopped by the other local to me dealer where we used to take our Accord Wagons long ago. They have used lot which could fit upwards of 200+ cars, I think there were maybe 40 there.

The had six Ridgelines but curiously all of them were the base RTL's. I did look into a few Pilots and CR-V's and the upgraded dashboard controls are rather nice.

I did get my 2021 RL Sport out the door for $40,500 (taxes, everything) back in Sept. 2021 but I don't think they are turning out Sports versions anymore, concentrating on the more expensive models now.

I just bought yesterday an RTL-E for 41,054 plus taxes and fees OTD total price 44,672.95 in Utah, do you think I could have gotten a better deal? I await your comments, thank you
I expect to be buying soon and have been c,osely watching the deals and inventory across all trim levels for the last couole of months. An RTL-E for $41K is a heck of a deal, and that is pretty much my "hard bargain" price I hope to get. Of course the add-ons are the wild card as others have mentioned, sounds like your deal was really solid, enjoy your truck!

I like to hear that, I wouldn't feel good knowing that I could have gotten a better price, the price of 41,054.00 included 628.00 optional accessories (3m Door Edge Guard and All SEASON PRO PACK) as well as 165.00 for an additional 12 months of service (oil change ) By the way, they didn't ask me if I wanted it and they put it in the sales contract. I advise you to ask for the contract to review it before signing it because they can put those little additional things (I realized until I got home and I checked everything carefully) from there everything was fine.
