Moldy/Mildew smell after it rains

2035 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Dnick
I have a 2007 at about 99K.

Whenever I get into the vehicle after it rains it always smells moldy or mildewy. The inside air also feels humid.

I don't see any moisture visually anywhere.

Thoughts?
Solutions?

Thanks

Sometimes this is caused by rain getting in through the inner side sills if the rubber grommets are not installed. There is also a thread somewhere about door drains getting blocked and the mold smell coming from the bottom of the windows.

Check your carpets front and back for being damp. Maybe you've acquired a leak ; windshield, inner left or right kick panels where they had trouble leaking, front drain holes on mud flaps are clear..

Goodness, yes. My '99 Regal had a terrible odor problem most of its life. In wet or humid weather, it was best to not roll down a window else a horrible sour, moldy smell would enter the cabin. I never could find the cause. :(
If/when you find the source, be sure to share for others to benefit from in the future.
